Full Version: Problem with trojans
Gladiator Security Forum > Malware Help Forum > HELP! Think you are Infected?
InvalidUserID
Hi all,

I believe that my computer has been infected. My Norton Internet Security has given me numerous notices of trojans. I tried Search And Destroy, which found some problems but hasn't completely gotten rid of them. I've noticed that I a "Windows Security Alert" telling me that my security center is disabled although when I go in and change it to "automatic" and re-enable it, it restarts back being disabled.

Anyways, onto the HJT log:

UPDATE: I just saw the stickie for the "VundoFix". I ran it as suggested although it found no infected files.

I also have had another trojan attempt blocked by NAV, a "dropper trojan".

Hello InvalidUserID,

Welcome to Gladiator Security Forum hello.gif

I notice that you have Spybot's TeaTimer running. While this is normally a wonderful tool to protect against hijackers, it can also interfere with the fixes. So please disable TeaTimer by doing the following:
1) Run Spybot-S&D
2) Go to the Mode menu, and make sure "Advanced Mode" is selected
3) On the left hand side, choose Tools -> Resident
4) Uncheck "Resident TeaTimer" and OK any prompts

You can reenable TeaTimer once your system is clean.

This tool is not a toy. If used the wrong way you could trash your computer. Please use only under direction of a Helper. If you decide to do so anyway, please do not blame me or ComboFix.

1. Download this file - combofix.exe
http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe
http://www.forospyware.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe
http://subs.geekstogo.com/ComboFix.exe
2. Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
3. When finished, it will produce a log for you. Post that log in your next reply please, along with a new HijackThis log.

Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall.

Thanks,
tea

Thanks again!

You're welcome. :)

Your Java is way out of date, which leaves your computer vulnerable.

Updating Java
  • Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6_u_7.
  • Scroll down to where it says "The J2SE Runtime Environment (JRE) allows end-users to run Java applications".
  • Click the "Download" button to the right.
  • Check the box that says: "Accept License Agreement".
  • The page will refresh.
  • Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation with or without Multi-language and save to your desktop.
  • Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
  • Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove all older versions of Java.
  • Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
  • Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
  • Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java versions.
  • Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
  • Then from your desktop double-click on jre-6-windows-i586.exe to install the newest version.

* Open notepad - don't use any other text editor than notepad or the script will fail.
Copy/paste the text in the quote box below into notepad:

QUOTE
Folder::
C:\VundoFix Backups
C:\SDFix

File::
C:\oitkxr.exe
C:\xvsqor.exe
C:\3670019.bat

Save this as txtfile CFScript

Then drag the CFScript into ComboFix.exe as you see in the screenshot below.

This will start ComboFix again.

After reboot, (in case it asks to reboot), post the contents of Combofix.txt in your next reply together with a new HijackThis log.

How is it running please? :)

Thanks,
tea

Tea,

So far, so good after following your instructions. I was able to re-enable and start security center without a pop-up balloon. I haven't tried a restart to see if it is on next time I start up. I would have been done a lot sooner but tea-timer came back up, even after I disabled it, and my scheduled NAV scan came up and slowed things down. Regardless, things look good. Here are the logs:
