Step 1
Run Hijackthis again, click scan, and Put a checkmark next to each of these items.

Step 2
Please download the OTMoveIt2 by OldTimer.

• Save it to your desktop.
• Please double-click OTMoveIt2.exe to run it. (Note: If you are running on Vista, right-click on the file and choose Run As Administrator).
• Copy the lines in the codebox below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose Copy):

• Return to OTMoveIt2, right click in the "Paste Standard List of Files/Folders to Move" window (under the light blue bar) and choose Paste.
• Click the red Moveit! button.

• Close OTMoveIt2

Note: If a file or folder cannot be moved immediately you may be asked to reboot the machine to finish the move process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes. In this case, after the reboot, open Notepad (Start->All Programs->Accessories->Notepad), click File->Open, in the File Name box enter *.log and press the Enter key, navigate to the C:\_OTMoveIt\MovedFiles folder, and open the newest .log file present, and copy/paste the contents of that document back here in your next post.

Step 3
Please run a BitDefender Online Scan

• Click I Agree to agree to the EULA.
• Allow the ActiveX control to install when prompted.
• Click Click here to scan to begin the scan.
• Please refrain from using the computer until the scan is finished. This might take a while to run, but it is important that nothing else is running while you scan.
• When the scan is finished, click on Click here to export the scan results.
• Save the report to your desktop so you can post it in your next reply.

First, thanks so much for the quick reply and advice.

Computer locked up because automatic updates tried to run near the end of the virus scan. I lost the output of both the virus scan and OTMoveIt2, but OTMoveIt2 was sucessful, and the virus scan was negative.

I have rebooted, installed the updates that Automatic Updates wanted to install, rebooted again, and run HJT again... Here is the output, but I think I'm all clean.

Should have saved a HJT log from when I first started with it, it was pretty full.

Let's just tidy up a couple of possible loose ends.

Step 1
Double click OTMoveIt once again and you should see a CleanUp! button, press that button, you may get prompted by your firewall that OTMoveIt wants to contact the internet, allow this, a cleanup.txt will be downloaded, a message dialog will ask you if you want to proceed with the cleanup process, click Yes. This will delete all the tools you have downloaded plus itself.

Step 2
As you have stated ... you did have a lot of malware on the system:

Now you should Set a New Restore Point to prevent possible reinfection from an old one. Some of the malware you picked up could have been saved in System Restore. Since System Restore is a protected directory, your tools can not access it to delete these bad files which sometimes can reinfect your system. Setting a new restore point AFTER cleaning your system will help prevent this and enable your computer to "roll-back" to a clean working state.

The easiest and safest way to do this is:

• Go to Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools and click "System Restore".
• Choose the radio button marked "Create a Restore Point" on the first screen then click "Next". Give the Restore Point a name then click "Create". The new point will be stamped with the current date and time. Keep a log of this so you can find it easily should you need to use System Restore.
• Then go to Start > Run and type: Cleanmgr
• Click "OK".
• Select the drive for cleaning then click OK (usually 'C' drive)
• Click the "More Options" Tab.
• Click "Clean Up" in the System Restore section to remove all previous restore points except the newly created one.
