Hi there,

I've just recently installed McAfee VirusScan enterprise 8.5.0i, and since then I keep getting the following pop-up:

TransferAgent.exe – Common Language Runtime Debugging Services

Application has generated an exception that could not be handled.

Process id=0xd18 (3352), Thread id=0x720 (1824).

I am also now unable to open up itunes, windows media player, or real player, either at all, or without it crashing.

Please help!

Do the obvious. Remove McAFee and see if the problems persist. I am not trying to sarcastic. There seems to be constant stream of errors and problems coming from recent versions of McAfee products.

If the problem still exists after McAfee has been removed, then run HiJackThis again, and post the new log in this thread.

I've removed McAfee, but unfortunately there's been no change - still can't open iTunes; Windows Media Player crashes. Real player crashes but no as much. And my widgets keep crashing as well. And the popup comes up still when I turn on my computer.

Click Start, then click Run.
Enter into the command box that opens: combofix /u and then click OK.




Then check your Event logs (especially system and application) for errors that may give more information about the cause of your problem. To see them, Start -> Control Panels -> Administrative Tools -> Event Viewer

The iTunesm etal errors seem centered around this module: winmm.dll. You can Google for it and downlaod a replacement but hold on for a moment. I want to check your Windows Updatelog since you appear to have issues installing Dot Net Framework modules. You'll find the log here: C:\Windows\WindowsUpdate.log. It may be easier to just attach it.

Have you been having trouble with Automatic Updates for WIndows?

The only problem I've noticed in the past, is that there'll be a notice saying there are new updates everytime I turn on my computer. Occasionally, my computer will give a warning saying that it'll reboot automatically to update my computer, but when it does, there'll be the same notice saying that there are new updates after it automatically reboots.

You have a problem with Windows Update failing to install updates. The resolution is beyoned the scope of this forum, but here are two links that will help point you in th correct direction.
