I have some very crappy lag, not sure if maybe there is a conflict between programs, or whats the deal, but the system is very laggy, and slow, any help would be greatfully appreciated, and thanks in advance, for looking over this post. And I still can not get this machine to do a full system defrag using the defrag that comes with windows XP. Any ideas on this as well ?

Let's get the defrag working first. I suspect a dsik error is preventing it from running. So lets be sure.

First:

To run chkdsk in fix mode:
Start -> Run -> cmd (press Enter)

From the prompt:
chkdsk C: /f (press Enter)

The system will prompt you that it will performed on the next boot.

Answer Yes is asked, then reboot.

You can find the chkdsk log here:
In XP, open the Control Panel, double click on "Adminstrative Tools", double click on the "Event Viewer" icon, then click on "Application". In the "Source" column, look for the "Winlogon" item. Double click it and you should see the results of your Chkdsk.



Second:
Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.

Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.

If you use Firefox browser

Click Firefox at the top and choose: Select All

Defrag your hard disk

I have done this and I see no bad sectors or no crictical errors something else must be causing, the issues I am having ??

You have cleaned temp files and folders and defragged the hard disk. Next step is to review running processes when the system is respnding slowly to see what is running and what percentage of the CPU is being used. That may point you in a direction. Note the it its normal for System Idle to consume over 90% of the CPU.
