Your log is clean, Have you done any speed tests to see what you are actually getting? Try DSL Reports (http://www.dslreports.com) and do two or three tests to different areas of the country.

Also, you might want to install TCP View from SysInternals 9http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/Utilities/TcpView.mspx) to see just how many programs are using your connection.

Without specific issues to point to and no concrete proof of a slwdown, its going to be a process of elimination.
Marcus0103

I really hope this helps. But I have a question, can this be a problem with my ISP and not me?
LoPhatPhuud
DSLR was wor king at the time of this post. It must have been a sporadic outage. Here is a link to the tools page: http://www.dslreports.com/tools

ALso, from the TCP View log, I see several AOL connections that look to be more than just AIM. Your IP address shows you are using Verizon as you main connection. By any chance when you experienced the slowdowns, were you connected to the web through AOL? (eg: Verizon -> AOL -> web).

The connections I am looking at are these:
aoltpspd.exe:1984 TCP 127.0.0.1:11532 0.0.0.0:0 LISTENING
aoltpspd.exe:1984 TCP 127.0.0.1:11531 0.0.0.0:0 LISTENING
aoltpspd.exe:1984 TCP 127.0.0.1:11530 0.0.0.0:0 LISTENING
aoltpspd.exe:1984 TCP 127.0.0.1:11529 0.0.0.0:0 LISTENING
aoltpspd.exe:1984 TCP 127.0.0.1:11528 0.0.0.0:0 LISTENING
aoltpspd.exe:1984 TCP 127.0.0.1:11527 0.0.0.0:0 LISTENING
aoltpspd.exe:1984 TCP 127.0.0.1:11526 0.0.0.0:0 LISTENING

Any form of internet speed booster is akin to snake oil. Think of your internet connection as a pipe with a fixed size. No matter how hard you try, you can only get so much water to go through it.

Now, that is not to say that speed boosters are a total waste. If you have a connection that is only using part of your pipe, you can add another, and another, and another, until the pipe is at capacity. But if your current connection is close to the max, then speed boosters are a waste of time.

Part of your problem may be the AOL speed booster. Try turning it off and see what happens.
Marcus0103
I'm using IE at the moment and I'm having slower speed, it's also slow when I'm using AOL also.

Here are the speedtest results,
Miami, Fl
Download-10kb/s
Upload-133kb/s

Los Angeles, CA
Download-14kb/s
Upload-132kb/s

About the TCP log, I've tried closing AOL speedboosters but they didn't go away. Are they supposed to vanish from the TCP list because I've also tried ending the process?
LoPhatPhuud
Sorry, I can't help you with the AOL software. You'll have to check with AOL re how to disable speed boost.

Looking at the speeds you posted, you do have a problem. Have you contacted Verizon about it? There is nothing on your computer that would cause those speeds. And, even if there was, I would expect both download and upload to be affected. What are the advertised speeds for your service?

ALso, in the speeds you posted, were both listed with a lower case 'k'? Lowercase is bits per second and upper case is bytles per second. As a rule of thumb bytes per second is 1/10th of the bits per second (allowance for control characters).

Oh sorry, I didn't think lowercase would matter. It should be upper-case K's and not lower-case. Guess I'll call Verizon later on and see what the problem is.

Thanks, also, I should have asked if you had the download/upload values reversed.

If your service is 1500/256 the values you posted for download would not be bad for download (this assumes you had them reversed). But the upload could use some improvement. If the values really are as you posted, then you really have a problem. The download is dead anbd upload is way to high.

That would have made them:

Miami, Fl
Download-133KB/s
Upload-10KB/s

Los Angeles, CA
Download-132KB/s
Upload-14KB/s

The order is not reversed, but I've lost all hope now. Last time this happened, the computer fixed itself in a few days.. I'm done trying tio fix this thing, I'll just let my parents handle it now =(
