I posted my log here once before, a few months ago, and was pronounced uninfected.

Just now, I was surfing for the lyrics to an old song.

I clicked on an innocent looking link, and SUDDENLY, a diskcleaner program popped up, announced that it would clean up all the traces of any sleazy sites I had visited, and began to execute.

I powered my machine down as fast as I could, but it continued to execute for a minute before the machine could shut down. I immediately powered back up, started an AVG scan, a McAffee scan, and Adaware, plus ran hijack this.

I cannot understand how visiting a simple url could unleash such a program!

I will be grateful if someone can identify the culprit in this log.

Another think I dont understand is, if such malware succeeds in executing on my machine, why would it show obvious signs of its activity. Why would it not simply do its damage silently.

Your log is clean.

On drive-by garbage, their goal is to sell you their program. To do that you need an infected system, so the use smoke and mirrors to detect exploits not actually on your system. Some programs have gone so far as to actually install infections. In most, if not all cases, the programs they are trying to sell you are ineffective, at best. But they need to make noise and display their findings. If they ran silent nobody would buy them.
