in task bar, security warning etc....while browsing and another page will come up about winantivirus 2006 (not real) well maybe it is...but
Virus or bugs hit DH comptuer and we were able to remov using avg antispyware ( not free addition) HOWEVER it will not tke are of my computer.
I cannot not start in safe mode....my icons will not come up. On Normal start up icons are taking at least 8 to 12 mins.
Adv internet security did pick up 4 trojan horse .........trojan agent trojan purity 4 trojan purity q
worm stration...........HELP we have spen hours and hours and update norton and purchased adv......full verison.... i should dhave come here 1st....

Hi Cathy1951,

Before we are going to deal with the entries of the log I would like to see what we can get rid of in the normal way.

Please create a list of programs that can be removed using Add/Remove Programs
Start HiJackThis. Click "Config"->"Misc Tools"->"Open Uninstall Manager" ->"Save List".
Save the log to a convenient location, and copy it into this thread.

Hi Cathy1951,

Open "Add/Remove Programs" in the Control Panel. Select the following items:
  • J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 6
  • OIN
and click "Remove" for each of them. If one of the uninstallers wants to download stuff or needs an Internet connection, skip that one and report them to me.

Update Java:
  • Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on the Software icon > add/remove programs.
  • Search in the list for all previous installed versions of Java. (J2SE Runtime Environment.... )

    It should have next icon next to it:
    Select it and click Remove.
  • The current version can be downloaded from Sun here: http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp Scroll down the page to 'Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 5.0 Update 9' and press the 'Download' button. On the new web page, click the 'Accept License Agreement' button. Then select 'Windows Offline Installation, Multi-language' in the Windows Platform area just below the Accept button.

Please post a new log from HijackThis after these instructions.

Hi Cathy1951,

Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop.
  • Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
  • Click the Scan for Vundo button.
  • Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
  • You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
  • Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
  • When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
  • Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log.

Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove.
In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button." when VundoFix appears at reboot.

Run HijackThis, click on "Scan" and check the boxes next to all these items.

Then close all windows, and browsers, except HijackThis. Tell HijackThis to "Fix checked".

Restart your computer in Safe Mode. How do I Safe Boot my computer?

Show hidden files. How do I show hidden files?
At the end if the fix you can return the files to hidden status if you want.

Folders and files with a tilde (~), means that there is a file/folder that starts with the six characters in front of the tilde, note that there may be spaces in the name. If there are more than one, please report them back and do not delete!

Delete the following files in red (it could be that they are deleted already):

i cannot start in safe mode, the black screen will come up with safw mode at the top and bottom but the icons will not come up.....

Also i cannot run Vundo fix it i have tried several times. unintalled and retired..
it stalls and the freezes up the computer and i have to shut down...

How long have you waited? Could it be that it was still working on ridding Vundo?

Save this to a textfile on your desktop. After that close Internet Explorer. Delete C:\WINDOWS\system32\geeda.dll
and C:\WINDOWS\system32\gttehucm.dll. Then start up HijackThis and fix the following entries:
