:furious: Hi guys i seem to have a bad spyware prob weied messages comp acting strange pop up notices etc. I have tried scanning with spybot search and destroy as normal but the programe never gets to the end of the scan it restarts my comp, thought this was a over heating prob at first so took sides off comp and put big fan on still the same, tried ad-aware se same problem and tried spyware terminater this time i tried to be clever and as soon as it had caught a few things stopped the scan before it re booted and tried to heal the probs caught but for some reason it would not clean it kept giving all stange messages. I was getting help from another forum which thought i had a real bad prob so gave me this forums details to post a log so here goes heres the log

Start here. THere will be more to do...

Please download
VundoFix.exe
to your desktop.
  • Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
  • Click the Scan for Vundo button.
  • Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
  • You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
  • Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
  • When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
  • Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log.

Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove.
In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button."
when VundoFix appears at reboot.

Close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked.

While still in Safe Mode*, delete the following: (you may need to show hidden files**)
(Files specified without a full path will be located in C:\Windows\ or C:\Windows\System32\)
C:\WINDOWS\system32\enshokn.dll
C:\PROGRAM FILES\PRINTV~1\ <--delete entire folder,
C:\WINDOWS\system32\crunner\ <--delete entire folder,

*How to Boot into Safe mode: http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgen...001052409420406
**Show Hidden and System files and folders: http://www.xtra.co.nz/help/0,,4155-1916458,00.html

Also, uncheck the boxes for hiding known file extensions and hiding protected operating system files. We want to see it all. When we finish here, it would be a good idea to rehide the protected operating system files but leave the rest to be shown.

Reboot in normal mode

Run HiJackThis again and post a new log in this thread.

Second:
Please download SilentRunners from here:
http://www.silentrunners.org/Silent%20Runners.zip

Unzip it to the desktop and double-click on it.
Silent Runners will ask if you want to skip the supplementary search.
Please select 'No' to include them.

The program will take longer to run, but will give us more information.

If you get any kind of warning message about scripts, please choose to allow the script to run.

When the scan is finished, a message will pop up and a logfile will have been created on the desktop.
The logfile is named 'Startup Programs' by default and will be located where the program is.

Please post the entire contents of this logfile for me to see.

Hi i have had a lot of problems comp kept rebooting all the time i eventuaaly got it into safe mode which took ages as comp wouldnt reboot. anyway did first part by checking boxes and fix. 2 files would not delete or fix they were
04-startup: .protected
04-global startup: .protected
the message said that i had other programes open close them but i didnt have any open so couldnt do those 2.

The next bit trying to delete those 3 files took all night as comp constantly rebooting by it self. the show hidden and system files was already unchecked the followin 2 were not there
c:\windows\system32\enshokn.dll (but when i just resatrted comp in normal mode it came up straight away with a message saying it could not find that folder.
c:\programe files\print~1\ this folder also not there was one called printview though?? i didnt delet that as was not worded the same so assuming that was not it.
The only one could find was c:\windows\system32\crunner deleted that

Then i have the hijack log that i did here it is

First:
1. Please download The Avenger by Swandog46 to your Desktop.
  • Click on Avenger.zip to open the file
  • Extract avenger.exe to your desktop

2. Copy all the text (including the words 'Files to delete:') contained in the code box below to your Clipboard by highlighting it and pressing (Ctrl+C):

QUOTE
Files to delete:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\{DC89B847-0C00-2057-0816-04020404002c}\Update.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\enshokn.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\crunner\cproc.exe

Folders to delete:
C:\Program Files\PrintView
C:\WINDOWS\system32\crunner

Note: the above code was created specifically for this user. If you are not this user, do NOT follow these directions as they could damage the workings of your system.

3. Now, start The Avenger program by clicking on its icon on your desktop.
  • Under "Script file to execute" choose "Input Script Manually".
  • Now click on the Magnifying Glass icon which will open a new window titled "View/edit script"
  • Paste the text copied to clipboard into this window by pressing (Ctrl+V).
  • Click Done
  • Now click on the Green Light to begin execution of the script
  • Answer "Yes" twice when prompted.
4. The Avenger will automatically do the following:
  • It will Restart your computer. ( In cases where the code to execute contains "Drivers to Unload", The Avenger will actually restart your system twice.)
  • On reboot, it will briefly open a black command window on your desktop, this is normal.
  • After the restart, it creates a log file that should open with the results of Avenger’s actions. This log file will be located at C:\avenger.txt
  • The Avenger will also have backed up all the files, etc., that you asked it to delete, and will have zipped them and moved the zip archives to C:\avenger\backup.zip.
5. Please copy/paste the content of c:\avenger.txt into your reply.

Second:
You are currently using hijackthis from a temporary directory, or from the Desktop.
This can cause problems and will leave backups scattered.

Please create a directory on your c: drive called c:\hijackthis and download and unzip hijackthis into that directory.
Run the program from that directory from now on.

It is essential that you follow these steps or certain important features of the program will not function correctly.

Third:
Run HiJackThis again and post a new log in this thread.

Fourth:
Would you please use HiJackThis to produce a startup list and post it here:
1. From HJT main screen, click 'Config' button
2. Click 'Misc Tools' button
3. Check both boxes to the right of 'Generate StartupList Log' button
4. Click 'Generate StartupList Log' button
5. Click 'Yes' in the next dialog
6. Save the log and post a copy in this thread.

While still in Safe Mode*, delete the following: (you may need to show hidden files**)
(Files specified without a full path will be located in C:\Windows\ or C:\Windows\System32\)
C:\Avenger\ <--delete entire folder,

Also, uncheck the boxes for hiding known file extensions and hiding protected operating system files. We want to see it all. When we finish here, it would be a good idea to rehide the protected operating system files but leave the rest to be shown.

Reboot in normal mode

Run HiJackThis again and post a new log in this thread.

Also, there are some McAfee entries as well. They are not AV and you may actually want them. If not, then use HJT to remove them and delete the referenced files.

Hi I hate nortons i have had problems with it showing up and leaving messages even though i deleted a year or two ago. Anyway it does not show up in add or remove . i went into c programe files and its there tried deleting it from there it wont, so i tried using mcafee to get rid of it , it couldnt delete said some files were missing and that it was running need to close it first before i can delete. but as i removed the main part of the software ages ago i have no way of opening to close the programe down to delete. so how can i delete this file?? have not done the rest as i realise this needs to be done first.

You may remeber when i did first log i said i noticed nortons was there and it shouldnt be. thanks will wait for your reply

That's good. Unless there are outstanding issues not reflected in your log(s), then we are done!
jd47
oh but i still have the same problem that my spyware programes like spybot search and destroy will not do a complete scan with out the computer shutting down on me. so im not able to get rid of any spyware that it detects on my computer. also since i have been using safe mode to start up when asked i now get a box pop up about it everytime saying i changed setting s then a box pops up the same as when i did change so i click normal press ok system reboots then it comes up again i tick the box to not show me this message again but it keeps coming up. im concerned about the computer keep shutting down on me when scaning i had these probs in the begining thats why i thought i had a spyware prob as was told some spyware knows when you are trying to get rid of it and shuts down.
LoPhatPhuud
Is the popup box from msconfig??

Re incomplete scans. We can check for rootkits, but I doubt that is the reason. I am leaning to a disk issue and we need to eliminate that first.

Run CheckDisk in fix mode for the C: drive and let me know the results.

To run CheckDisk:
Start -> Run -> cmd (press 'Enter')

In the Command Prompt window
chkdsk C: /f

You will told that the scan with fix option cannot be done on a system drive and will be done at boot--acknowledge that (Y) and reboot.
jd47
hi the box that pops up says system configuration utility nothing on it saying msconfig. it bassically saying that changes have been made to start up and that i need put it into normal start up on general tab. i have done that each time it comes up and press ok as apply is not highlighted. do that it restarts and says the same thing also on a reboot or when windows first starts up 'my computer 'box opens automately on the screen??? not sure why? it goes away ok when i close the box this happens every time.

I did the disk check yes it restarted and said file system was NTFS then it went through file verication and completed then chkdsk verifing indexes that completed then chkdsk security description that completed then very quickly some info flashed up like disk space left could not read the rest as it rebooted straight away. Then before windows came up a blue screen said spyware terminator total files 0 deleted files 0 deletion failed. then that disapeared and windose rebooted same as usual with the annoying pop up warning and my computer window open.
LoPhatPhuud
System Configuration Utility (SCU) == msconfig, its just a different name.

You can stop it from coming up at boot by using HiJackThis to remove this entry:
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [MSConfig] C:\WINDOWS\PCHealth\HelpCtr\Binaries\MSConfig.exe /auto

There really is no reason to have it come up each time your computer boots.

I want to check startups again with a different program.

Please post the entire contents of this logfile for me to see.
jd47

sorry also meant to ask do you think im safe to use internet with my credit card concerned about spyware? thanks
LoPhatPhuud
Hold off on the credit card until we get this sorted out. The system is safe for mthat standpoint, but there are still issues to be resolved.

A few registry fixes are needed, but before I do them I want to know if you have Spyware Terminator installed?
jd47
yes i do
LoPhatPhuud
The blue screen you are getting is being caused by Spyware Terminator. At one time it was on the Rogue AntiSpyware list (http://www.spywarewarrior.com/rogue_anti-spyware.htm). I would suggest that you remove it for now.

Do the following, then post a new HiJackThis log and we'll continue with the few items left.

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
    Under Main choose: Select All
    Click the Empty Selected button.
If you use Firefox browser
Click Firefox at the top and choose: Select All
    Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
If you use Opera browser
Click Opera at the top and choose: Select All
    Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.
For Technical Support, double-click the e-mail address located at the bottom of each menu.

firstly did what you said abour trying to stop the pop up message saying systemconfig utility, through hijack this. It's still happening and so is the 'my computer' window they still pop up on every start up.

Next problem getting rid of spyware terminator went into control panels add remove and tried that way it got as far as telling me my computer was in process of deleting it, but it never got any further crashed my computer everytime. So I have not been able to get rid of it . Can I do it through high jack this if so how?

See if you can delete either in Safe Mode.

If not, can you rihgt click on them and give much info re file name, etc as possible.

OK, post a new HiJackThis log and a new Silent Runners log.

Also, make sure the WIndows Messenger it turned off. If on, it may be the source of the popups. To toggle it off/on use ShootThe Messenger by Steve Gibson here: http://www.grc.com/stm/shootthemessenger.htm

just to let you know one of my email accounts with my internet provider has closed my account down i have been back listed due to a violation. Been on the phone to them today they said because of the spyware on my computer someone has been using my account to send spam and spread spyware. So i am quiete concerned what other information they could of got to . I obviously still have a big spyware prob they said i would have to put my computer back to factory settings and reinstall windows and all my software to clear the problem. is this true? also dont know how to do that? kind regards JD
LoPhatPhuud
Without knowing what is actually on your computer, your ISP is making a mal-informed comment, at best. Your log shows no signs of anything capable of sending email. There are a few leftover registry entries, but no adverse files. Of course, if you have a rootkit, the files would not show. We'll check for that in a moment. I suspect someone has the password to the email account and is using it fraudlently. Are you the only per son with access to that account? To be safe, chnage the passwords on all your email accounts.

Reformatting and re-installing is called for in some circumstances, but I am not there yet with your computer. To do it, you need either a restore partition on your computer, or restore CD's.

But first, lets look for rootkits....

Please download RootKitRevealer from here:
http://www.sysinternals.com/files/rootkitrevealer.zip
Unzip it to the desktop, run it, and click Scan. This will generate a log file; please post the entire contents of the log file here for me to see.

No one else has access to my computer but will change my passwords and still holding back from interent shopping or banking just in case.
the system config still pops up about the starting up of windows and 'my computer' file is always open when reeboots or is started up.
LoPhatPhuud
This will fix the msconfig at startup issue. I'm still checking on the My Computer problem.

Run HiJackThis and press the Scan' button

When the scan is finished:
Check the following items in HijackThis.
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [MSConfig] C:\WINDOWS\PCHealth\HelpCtr\Binaries\MSConfig.exe /auto

Close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked.

Reboot in normal mode

Run HiJackThis again and post a new log in this thread.

i did try that before it didnt work but i think i have solved the problem as when i went to do the same as before as you just described i had a spybott search and destroy broken message appear . so I wondered if search and desroy had probs i had uninstalled and reinstalled a week or two ago when i had probs but anyway i uninstalled it did what you said and this time worked fine then i reinstalled spybott search and destoy and tried a scan it went right through this time and got rid of a few problems also adware se went right through and cleaned a few problems too.

but i did notice spyware blaster still had the same no. of items in database i would of thought if it was working it would be going up the no.s in the data base . I did notice this before an uninstalled and reinstalled a few weeks ago but its the same i did mention this in there forum and they were the ones that put me in touch with you guys as no one had an answer for all the funny things happening.

Still have the 'my computer' file window open evertime still but not the other window now, and spyware programes scanned through and cleaned ok, concerned that spyblaster is not working though.

heres my new log

THere is nothing adverse open the My Compujter window, but probably it is this entry: O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ChangeICON] C:\WINDOWS\SPMSMON.EXE

Use HiJacThis to remove it. If we need it back, HJT will have made a backup that can be restored.

Also, your Java Runtime is out of date

Once your system is clean, you need to update your JavaRuntime module(s) to the most current version [ JRE Version 5.0, Update 9]. You can download it directly from Sun at this link: http://www.java.com/en/download/index.jsp

Note: Be sure to remove all prior versions, using Add/Remove Programs, before you install the new one. Reboot after removal and prior to installation.
jd47
wow your a genious yourock.gif that worked no more files opening up by them selfs all as normal now. all spyware removal software seems to run right through now as well , and computer doesnt keep cutting off any more. did the java renewal too. Do you think im safe now? am i safe to do internet shopping?

If so can you tell me is the progremmes i got enough to protect me this is what i have there all free additions
avg free
spybot search and destroy
ad aware se
spyware blaster
Zone alarm

not sure if im totally happy with the spyware blaster as i said before not convinced its working.

thanks so happy to be getting some where now
LoPhatPhuud
You need realtime AntiSpyware protection that goes beyond the limited coverage afforded by SpyBot S&D. AdAware Plus or Professional provide realtime protection via AdWatch. But those programs are not free. For paid AS coverage I would recommend AVG AntiSpyware (used to be Ewido) or CounterSpy.

For free coverage, try Windows Defender.
jd47
sorry your going to hate me got a problem again with the computer shutting off. I thought we were were all done so i tried to catch up on my back load of work by burning a slide show in nero vission express, when it got to the burn with in first few minutes it shut down and rebooted computer tried taking the sides off computer in case its a over heating problem same thing . :furious: nearly threw out the window i promised a galllery i would get this disk to them now i cant burn it, any ideas whats causing this to happen still.
LoPhatPhuud
Most likely the problem is with Nero. Uninstall, manually remove any leftovers, reboot and re-install.
jd47
Dont have the disk any more will have to buy it again never mind. Does that mean we are done then, do you think im safe now to use bank account , emails, paypal etc . :)
LoPhatPhuud
Yes, from the info we have, you can go back to full internet usage.
jd47

LoPhatPhuud
