Please help me I have ewido and it finds some things but doesn't get rid of it! My computer is running extremely slow and I need help. I think I am infected with some kind of virus. I have Mcaffee but it doesn't find anything!

Back in May of this year, BobbiFlekman asked that you upgrade your Windows. You never responded and now you are back with a version of Windows that is drastically out of date. There are too many vulnerabilities in Windows without all the patches you are missing.

Is there a particlualr reason you are not updating your Windows????

I didn't know I was suppose to update windows? I am not sure how to update. I got this copy of windows from a friend so what should I do?

You go to Windows Update (Internet Explorer -> Tools -> Windows Update)

That will list all the changes you need to make. Install everytihng up to, but not including SP2 and beyond (you will do those after we verify your system is clean)

After updating, then run HiJackThis again, and post a new log in this thread.

I can't get Windows Update to work it says there was an unknown error and it said incomplete validation. What do I do now?

You said a friend gave you the copy of Windows you have. I suspect you are running a pirated copy.

If you still have it, please post the first group of character you use when you install XP and it asks for the CD key. I do not need the entire key.
