Hi tripod,

It is not a good idea to have multiple anti virus products running. These programs get in each other's way. Use just one as an "On Access" scanner. You can keep the other one for "On Demand" scanning. Also more than one firewall isn't good either.

Update Java:

• Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on the Software icon > add/remove programs.
• Search in the list for all previous installed versions of Java. (J2SE Runtime Environment.... )
  
  It should have next icon next to it:
  Select it and click Remove.
• Then Download and install the newest version from here:
  http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp

Apart from the things I mentioned none... Are you having problems?

it just seams slower and i dont keep avg on all the time i only run it once a month.
and is it save to have the microsoft firewall on with my aol privicywall 2.0. becouse it keeps telling me i need to turn it off but i rember someone telling they all should work with windos firewall and runn together.

Maybe you have to empty the Recycle Bin, and defragment your hard disc(s). Also running two anti-virus products at the same time will take its toll on the responsiveness of a system. What happens when you open a file is that both anti-viruses will check if the file is okay. Always one will have to wait on the other. And even though you say you only run AVG once a mnth it is getting started up when you start up the computer. So in effect you are still running two anti-virus solutions at the same time.
Personally I would turn off the firewall by Microsoft because it is a one-way firewall. this means that everything that is on the computer can open up an outside line and gets the answer back into your computer. Only if the connection is being made from outside of the computer, for example when someone is trying to see if you can be entered, it will keep the computer secure. I expect that the AOL firewall is two-way, but I have no experience with it.
