Norton AntiVirus keeps giving me "High Risk" "Virus Alerts" that say :

Norton AntiVirus has detected and removed a virus from your computer.

Object Name C:\Program Files\...\[8-digit filename].wmf
Virus Name Download.Trojan
Action Taken The file was automatically deleted.

I click OK and a new one with a different 8-digit file name pops up. I've clicked OK hundreds of times; there seems to be an infinite supply.

Your log does not show anything that would be causing the problem you describe. Get the full path to the file detected. You show C:\Program Files\.. What is the rest of the path? If it is not a program you installed, then reboot into Sasfe Mode and delete the entire folder.

Also, you have two Anti Virus products, both apparently provding realtime protection. To avoid conflicts and possible corruption, you should only have one AV providing real time protection. Please take the steps necessary.

ALso your Java runtime is out of date...

Once your system is clean, you need to update your JavaRuntime module(s) to the most current version [Version 5.0, Update 6]. You can download it directly from Sun at this link: http://www.java.com/en/download/index.jsp

Note: Be sure to remove all prior versions, using Add/Remove Programs, before you install the new one. Reboot after removal and prior to installation.


Finally...

If RootkitRevealer will not run or you cannot get a log from it then try this tool:

Download Blacklight Beta from this website:
http://www.f-secure.com/blacklight/try.shtml
Save it to your desktop and double click on the file.

Have it scan your computer but do not try to fix or delete anything identified by the tool, it may list legitimate programs.

If the scan does find anything then copy and paste the log back to this thread. The log should be on your desktop or root directory (C:\). This is the format for the log file name:
fsbl-<date-and-time>.log

If you have any trouble finding it do a search for fsbl*.log.
