Hallo guys,

I have been refered to this forum by the Spywareblaster forum, and here i am asking your help.
I have scanned my system with adaware and cleaned all the crap which was found.
But it still throws on my face every now and then the annoying webpages, out of the blue.

This is my highjackthis logfile. Thanks for helping.

Download CWShredder from this page:
http://www.intermute.com/spysubtract/cwshr...r_download.html
Don't run it yet.

Download this file to your desktop.
http://www.derbilk.de/SpSeHjfix109.zip

Right click a blank part of desktop & select new folder.

Name the new folder spfix
Unzip the file into that folder

Run hiihjackthis.

Select this entry and press the fix checked button:
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WinHound] C:\Program Files\WinHound\WinHound.exe
--

Disconnect from the internet and Close ALL OPEN PROGRAMS.
Run 'SpSeHjfix'. and click on "Start Disinfection".
When it's finished it will reboot your machine to finish the cleaning process.
The tool creates a log of the fix which will appear in the folder.

If it doesn't find any of the SE files or any hidden reinstallers it will say system clean and not go on to next stage

Now run the Shredder - Hit The FIX button!

Reboot and post a new Hijackthis log and the log that was created by 'SpSeHjfix'

Some people have a problem opening Internet Explorer after
running this fix. If you have this problem, go to Control
Panel>Internet Options and reset your home page.
lok
Hallo Mosaic.Thanks for your help.

Done everything you asked, but i think, regarding SpSeHjfix,i could not unzip that file into the new folder i created.I was not sure how to do that.
Anyway, i have done everything you asked, and i am posting here a new highjacklog. A SpSeHjfix log was nowhere to be found, sorry.

By the way, when loading windows now, it throws up a window saying
"Error loading
C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\SE.DLL
The system cannot find the file specified"

Any suggestions please?

Hi lok,

To unzip, install an unzipping program and then double click on the zip file.

Winzip has a free trial. You can download it from this site:
http://www.winzip.com

Let's try this manually and see if it works. CWShredder may have deleted the file and it's missing. But left behind the run entry. You don't need to use that other program now.

Run hijackthis. Select the following items and press the fix checked button:
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = res://C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\se.dll/space.html
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = about:blank
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = res://C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\se.dll/space.html
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = about:blank
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = about:blank
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = about:blank
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,HomeOldSP = about:blank
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,HomeOldSP = about:blank
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyOverride = 127.0.0.1
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [sp] rundll32 C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\SE.DLL,DllInstall

Restart Windows.
Run hijackthis again and post the new log here.
lok
Hallo Mosaic, thanks for the instructions.

When i did a Highjacklog, the following were not there to delete:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = res://C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\se.dll/space.html
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = res://C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\se.dll/space.html
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [sp] rundll32 C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\SE.DLL,DllInstall

All other have been checked and fixed.

Here is the new Highjack log after restarting

Hi lok,

That's looking good.

See if you can change your search page.

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = about:blank
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = about:blank
------

This folder should be deleted too:

C:\Program Files\WinHound

Let me know how you do.

Also here is an excellent source for tips to tighten security. Follow the advice and get the free downloads to help avoid some of these problems in the future.

Hallo Mosaic,

Thanks for your help.I am relieved, that things are better now.
I can change search page, through tools,Internet options etc.Is this what you mean?

What i am suppose with these?
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = about:blank
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = about:blank

And C:\Program Files\WinHound, is nowhere to find, so i cannot delete it.

If you have any suggestions, please let me know. Thanks

By the way, thanks for the link regarding PC security.
lok
Mosaic, i am back again.

I forgot to mention, that i still cannot run Spywareblaster on my system. It shows
"Error while unpacking program, code 4. Please report to author."

Does this mean, that there still a problem somewhere?

Any feedback is appreciated.Thanks.
Mosaic1
You're welcome.

Go to http://www.winzip.com

Download and install Winzip

See if you can run Spywareblaster now. Let me know.

Use hijackthis for these two entries:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = about:blank
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = about:blank

Hallo Mosaic, thanks for your reply.

1) I have an unzipping programm. It is winrar.

2) Regarding Spywareblaster, i had this programm on my system, and was running until i got infected. I have tried to setup again the programm, but with no result.

3) Should i check fix on these two entries, and delete them?
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = about:blank
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = about:blank

Thanks again for your quidance.
Mosaic1
Hi lok,

Your error is a tough one with no apparent resolution.

See this link to the official Javacool Forums at Wilders:
http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=83669

Yes. Use hijackthis for those entries.

For the heck of it, let's try something we used to use as a cure all for windows 98. No promises.

Go to Cnotrol Panel > Add REmove Programs and find the Internet Explorer entry.

Double click on it. A new dialog with three entries will appear. Select Repair. This will repair Internet Explorer and then require a restart of the system.

Let me know if this helps you out.
lok
Hi, Mosaic,

1)R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = about:blank
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = about:blank
OK, these now are deleted.

2)I have "repaired" Internet Explorer, as per your instructions.I don`t know, if it is any better now.How can i tell?

3)Spywareblaster still cannot be loaded.I have already been at Javacool forum, but they have refered me to your forum.

4)My system now looks quite ok, the only visible problem is the Spywareblaster issue.

Many thanks!
Mosaic1
Hi lok,

Internet Explorer is so integrated into the Operating system and sometimes repairing it solves some very strange and difficult problems. It was something to try. However, it didn't help your issue.

Something very basic has changed and we cannot trace it. I wish there was more to do, but at this point, I am not able to do much more on this.
