below you will find my hijack this log.
i hope you can help!

Please download, install, and update the free version of Ewido trojan scanner:
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/

When you run ewido for the first time, you might get a warning "Database could not be found!". Click OK.

From the main ewido screen, click on update in the left menu, then click the Start update button.

After the update finishes (the status bar at the bottom will display "Update successful")

Exit Ewido. DO NOT scan yet.

If you are having problems with the updater, you can go to http://www.ewido.net/en/download/updates/ to update manually
-----------------

Go to Control Panel >Add Remove Programs

Uninstall Viewpoint Manager
-----------------------------------

You will be restarting into Safe mode later. Here's help if you need it.

To use the F8 key to start Windows XP in Safe mode
Restart the computer.
Some computers have a progress bar that refers to the word BIOS. Others may not let you know what is happening.
As soon as the BIOS loads, begin tapping the F8 key on your keyboard. Do so until the Windows Advanced Options menu appears.
If you begin tapping the F8 key too soon, some computers display a "keyboard error" message. If this happens, restart the computer and try again.
Using the arrow keys on the keyboard, select Safe mode and then press Enter.

------
Because XP will not always show you hidden files and folders by default.
Reset your search settings first.

Open Folder Options>view and check your settings:
Select
Show hidden files and folders
Display the contents of system folders
Uncheck: Hide protected operating system files
Next go to Search and look down to More advanced options and click onthe chevron next to it.
Be sure the first three boxes are selected:
Search System folders
Search Hidden Files and folders
Search SubFolders
--------

Go to Start > Run.
Type services.msc
Press enter.
Find this entry on the list and double click on it.
Windows Overlay Components

Click Stop.
Change Startup Type to disabled.

Click OK.

Do the same for this entry:

Command Service

Click OK and close the Services window.
-------------------------------------

Restart into Safe mode.
Go to Start >Run and type
hijackthis
Press enter.

Do not open anything else yet!

Select the following items and press the fix checked button:

------------

Empty your Temporary Internet Files and history in Internet Options. And clean out your
Temp folder.
Go to start>Run and type
%TEMP%
Press enter to open your temp folder.

Select all and delete all.

It's a good idea to do that regularly.

Next, run a scan with Ewido.

Click on the Scanner button in the left menu, then click on the Start button. This scan can take quite a while to run, so please be patient

If Ewido finds anything, it will pop up a notification. You can select "remove" and check the boxes "Perform action with all infections" and "Create encrypted backup" before clicking on OK.

When the scan finishes, click on "Save Report". This will create a text file. Make sure you know where to find this file again.

Copy and paste the results from that scan back here when you return to post again.

*Note: Ewido is a free trial product for 14 days. After that you can purchase it for full features OR you can also keep the free version to use as an on-demand scanner (recommended).
You will still be able to manually update Ewido using the *update* button

-----------

Restart into Regular Windows again.

Go for free online Virus scans here:

http://housecall.trendmicro.com/housecall/start_corp.asp
http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/

Allow them to clean

Panda will have the option to create a log afer the scan has finished. Click the See Report button. Then click the save Report button. It will be saved under the name activescan.txt Do that and post that log into your next reply here.

Run hijackthis and post the new log.

If you have a problem downloading EWIDO then skip that step for now.

thank you for helping.

i was able to get up to the part of

go to run
type in services.msc

however, once i hit ok, i get the same error message window:

microsoft management console has encountered a problem and needs to close. we are sorry for the inkonvenience.

this is what is happening when i try to do a sytem restore, or open ie, or retty much anything.

but i was able to, via this laptop, get the program you told me to get, and then transfer it over. it is installed.
also, i changed the search criteria as you instructed, and anything else before the:
run\services.msc command

what do i do now?
Mosaic1
Try the services.msc in Safe mode instead of regular though. After you do the services.msc then continue. Anything you can't do in regular Mode, I am hoping will be possible in Safe Mode. If services.msc is still not doable, then do as much as you can.
.
mushuriyu
ok....
got most of it done...

im having a little trouble with this part

Delete these files:

C:\WINDOWS\dggolbh.exe------cant find
C:\WINDOWS\giauwbz.exe------cant find
C:\WINDOWS\zdywgik.exe------cant find
C:\windows\mrjj.exe-------------cant find (is there a difference between
C:\windows\rlvknlg.exe----------deleted C:\WINDOWS and C:\windows?)
C:\Program Files\System Files\System.exe-------cant find
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ltasap.exe----------------cant find

Delete these folders:

C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\Viewpoint Manager-------deleted
C:\Program Files\Media Gateway-----------------------deleted
C:\Program Files\CMMan--------------------------------says its protected
C:\WINDOWS\dGFsIGV0Z2Fy--------------------------says its protected

the two that are protected give me an error:
cant delete "name of folder" please check that the disk is not full or write protected and that the file is not currently in use.

other than that, i have been able to do all other instructions, but since i had a question on this, i didnt download the last progs at the bottom of your orginal instructions.

please advise as to my next step.

thank you again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The windows folder is the same whether in capitals or not.

Any success running services.msc in Safe mode?

Did you try to run Ewido yet?

Are you able to get into regular windows mode and run hijackthis?

You are still infected, but I want to see where you stand.
mushuriyu
services.msc ran after i did what you instructed in hijack and deleting some of those files and folders. (the ones i could find and atually would delete.)
thus, hijackthis ran fine, as well as ewido.

Download: DelDomains.inf
http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/DelDomains.inf

To use: right-click and select: Install (no need to restart)
Note: This will remove all entries in the "Trusted Zone" and "Ranges"

couldnt get that to work. tried right-clicking the link, no instal option available.

Go for free online Virus scans here:

http://housecall.trendmicro.com/housecall/start_corp.asp
http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/

Allow them to clean

Panda will have the option to create a log afer the scan has finished. Click the See Report button. Then click the save Report button. It will be saved under the name activescan.txt Do that and post that log into your next reply here.

Run Startuplist the same as before and post the new log here.

In your first post you said you had all these problems:

QUOTE
i am having some probs. my pc is now doing its own thing.
when i try to use ie, it closes before it opens and says "ie has encountered a problem and needs to close...." and now, i am getting that with most rograms i try to open. i reinstalled norton, and that wont even open....but, it does keep puting a window up that says it has detected a wireless network, and asks what to do. i choose what to do, and it just keeps poping up the same window...over, and over, and over.
below you will find my hijack this log.

Which are now gone and which remain please?
mushuriyu
in reply to post #14:

all of the problems that i mentioned have dissapeared. the only thing now is every once in a while norton says "a recent attempt to attack your pc was stopped" and imediately after that, no ie functions work. all other online issues still work...aim, yahoo messenger, and msn messenger, but ie will not load or find pages.

but that only happens when an attack is attempted.

other than that, the problems from the original post are taken care of.

i am now waiting for panda to scan and create a log so i can post...just wanted to answer your question in the mean time.
Mosaic1
Ok, Good. Thanks. I'll be here when you post your scan results.
mushuriyu
something happened when i was doing the scans and my pc shut down.
so i am in process of doing them again.
also, since all of this, now at start up, a little prog comes up in the taskbar and is called dell support alerts. i never have used this, nor do i need it. it just sits there and does nothing, but causes my comp to start up slowly.
in the list that i posted of my start up items, can you tell which command this is?
if so that would be great, and as soon as the scans are done, they will be posted.

thank you again for all yoru help!

This looks like it:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [DwlClient] C:\Program Files\Common Files\Dell\EUSW\Support.exe

You might want to run msconfig and click the Startup tab.

Disable DWLClient there.

You'll get a messaage that you are running selective startup at next boot. You want that. Do not make a change. And there should be a box labeled dop not show me this again when you get that message. Go ahead and check that box.
mushuriyu

also, i have been trying to do that scan from the internet, but my net keeps crashing due to some kind of attack.

a window pops up on the bottom right hand screen from symantec saying
"a recent attempt to attack your computer was blocked. click here for more info."

then, all my internet via ie stops working...i try to refresh, or go to another page, and it says page can not be found. and the only way to make it work again is to restart my comuter. and this happens very frequently.

however, i have this log...

also, forgot to mention that the DWL command is not in my start up list.
is it a good idea to delete that using hijack this? or should i avoid that and just deal with it slowing my start up?

thanks again for all your continued help

No. Do not use hijackthis to delete DWL. It should be there if your run Msconfig and press the Start Tab. Take another look. But why is it suddenly there?

Maybe click on the icon for dell Support Alerts and see if it is trying to tell you there is an update or alert that you need. Or it may be a response to that sudden shutdown. That's not a good sign.

There's such a thing as a BSOD. That's a Blue Screen of Death. But Windows XP has a setting so that you do not see the screen and Windows just reboots instead.

Let's change that setting so you can see the error it throws up, if it does in fact do so.

Go to Start >run and paste in this command:
control sysdm.cpl,,3

Press enter.

This will bring up a properties page.
On that page, look for the Start and Recovery section and click the settings button there.

This will bring up a new page.

Look for the System failure section.
Remove the check from the box labeled Automatically restart and apply.

Ok and then close up.

If you get a Blue Screen of death again, note the error and
post back.

Can you open the Symantec Software and find out what the alerts were about? It is possible there is a problem with your System.
