What does Norton tell you the location of these files is?

Is for the uninterruptible Power Supply service and the file is missing.

Look in System32\dllcache for
ups.exe

If you find it, right click on it and select copy.

Open the system32 folder. Roght click on an empty space and select paste from the menu.

Let me know how everything goes.

Save the file to your desktop. Double click l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts. Open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop. Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing enter. This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it into your next reply here.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

Btw, i cant seem to find any file named ups.exe! i tried "search" for hidden files and stuff, went to Windows\System32\ cant seem to find the folder which u mentioned dll.cache? no ups.exe anywhere.. LOL i'm so dead>? or how do i go about finding it?

I think i've finally killed Guard.tmp (cause the ad webbies have stopped popping up)

The compressed file LSASS.exe within C:\Program Files\Lotto007\keygen.exe is a Hack tool threat.

Close any programs you have open since this step requires a reboot.

From the l2mfix folder on your desktop, double click l2mfix.bat and select option #2 for Run Fix by typing 2 and then pressing enter, then press any key to reboot your computer. After a reboot, your desktop and icons will appear, then disappear (this is normal). L2mfix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it back into this thread, along with a new Hijack This log.

Do you use an Uninterruptible Power Supply?

Do you have your service pack files on the drive?

See if you can find ups.exe on the entire hard drive using Search located on your start menu.

If no luck, search for ups.ex_

1. I use an Antec PSU 480watts (dun think its a UPS rite)?

You didn't answer my question as to whether or not you installed this program? It looks like you may have but I can't tell for sure.

A UPS is a hardware device you hook up to prevent your Power from going out during a power failure. You should know if you have one or not. It is something you would have bought.

If so, you need that service up and running properly. AV's should verify what file it is before deleting. They don't just delete files by name. There are other checks they run.

I had you fix something I shold not have.

Run hijackthis again.
Press the config button.
Click the Backups button.

Find this on the list:

If you do not use a UPS you can stop the service and set it to manual.

Go to start >Run and type

services.msc

Press enter.

Find Uninterruptible Power Supply on the list and double click on it. This will bring up its property page.

Stop the service is the stop is availalbe and then reset the startup type to manual.

Apply and then exit.

The compressed file LSASS.exe within C:\Program Files\Lotto007\keygen.exe is a Hack tool threat

What is this Lotto007? Was this something you installed or not please?

1) ya i installed lotto007 into my com C:drive

Its a program whereby it keeps tracks of past lotto winnings and generates new numbers according to the stats and stuff.

And i've already deleted that C:\Program Files\Lotto007\keygen.exe

Scanned my com with Norton anti virus.. seems clean like a whistle for now Thanks a lot !! for the help!!

its a picture of the Bon jovi Cover Cd album.
Can i delete those? are they of any use?

I an not sure if it wsa a part of your Lotto program or not.

At any rate, if it doesn't work after this, you may want to reinstall it.



Once you have rebooted a time or two, be sure everything is in working order. It is time to flush your system restore points. Once you do that you will not be able to correct any problems you may have now by going back to a point before today.


After something like this it is a good idea to Flush the Restore Points and start fresh.
To flush the XP system Restore Points.

Go to Start>Run and type msconfig Press enter.

When msconfig opens, click the Launch System Restore Button.
On the next page, click the System Restore Settings Link on the left.

Check the box labeled Turn off System restore.


Reboot. Go back in and Turn System Restore Back on. A new Restore Point will be created.
