Hey! My PC is worst than its ever been and the most annoying thing is I turned it on and it was like this. Norton Antivirus has been corrupted by a virus and after that i had no protection so it let everything else in. Now I have a constant barrage of popups, I cant do 50% of the things i want to on here without an error coming up and I have no way of preventing it.

Heres a list of the programs that have stopped working:

Gmail Notifier
SmartFTP & WS_FTP
and Winamp only semi-works

I've ran Ad-aware 4 times and NAV twice (only funtion that still works on it) and its come up with loads of viruses and it deletes almost all of them but some of them wont delete or quarantine and then when i do a scan straight after theres even more viruses and spyware.

I can't access hardly any sites, especially ones i have to log into like ebay. It comes up with connection refused when i try and log into them usually and i get constant popups from these sites (15 since i started writing this post)

Norton says "The Norton Antivirus component is not installed or failed to load, Please reinstall" and when i go onto it it shows all the things as error. Also Internet security doesnt appear in the system tray and my quicklaunch disappears everytime i startup.

It looks like you had MessengerPlus installed at one time. There's a leftover in your log.

Run hijackthis. Select this item and press the fix checked button:

We still have some leftovers to clear out from this infection. But the popups should be gone now.

Save the file to your desktop. Double click l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts. Open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop. Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing enter. This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it into your next reply here.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

ALso, have you tried uninstalling your Norton, restartoing the computer and then reinstalling Norton?
