So i downloaded the 2005 edition of Norton Security, and the computer said that i didn't have any room left (i had about 9.5g of my 60 left). So, i cancelled out of the install, and moved a whole bunch of music to my external (now i have about 14. something free memory). So i re-ran the install and every time i hit the 'next' button on the install, the window would just close out. There were no error messages or anything.
So i called norton, they had me remove 'everything' norton from my computer, and run all of these programs from their site to take everything off. I even went thru the registry to make sure they were all gone...and uninstalled everything thru about eight different processes. *wipes brow*
So NOW, i reinstall norton and it say "it is recommended that you do a little system scan, for viruses, before installing'. So i attempt to, and like...3 seconds later it says that the scan has failed and that it is possible that i have some viruses.
So then i just try to install it without the scan and it tells me to restart my computer to complete the installation process. I'm like "Ok, then i'll just restart...and once this thing installs...i'll scan for viruses". right?
Umm...no. Cuz once i restart, the first message i get is "please restart to complete the process" (even tho i just did). I keep getting the same message every time i restart (the process is never completed). It says that Internet Security is installed, but i am unable to open it...and i'm not sure what's up with it now...but i know that if i do enable it, then all internet just gets completely blocked. So yea, the restarting process never works.
I came here and ran that Ad-Adware program but it always gets stuck on the same file when it's deep scanning the local registry (and i left it to scan for a good 8 hours at the least). The file is: CLSID:\{09E5A7E0-90D8-4848-A836-EF2B1AA6A05A}
It says something about having found 13 new critical objects. In red, it states that it has 7 registry keys identified and 6 registry values identified.
So i closed out of that and ran that spybot search and destroy. It immunized something like....6,500-some files (not sure what that means), but said that No immediate threats were found.

I'm sure that having a virus (if i do) is never good for anyone...but especially not when classes are about to start up again soon. And I called Norton about 4 times, their little over-seas technician people would try to help me, but then they'd eventually just get tired of the fact that nothing they were telling me was working. So like, they'd say (in a much quieter voice) "If you want to continue this call it will cost you $30" and i'm like "What? I just paid like..$50 to renew this!" (i didn't really say this but i was like..."ok....."

Hmm...well, i just tried to install it the first time, on top of the old one, cuz i figured that it would just apply itself over the older version and everything would be cool. But when i couldn't click the 'next' button on the install of the new version, i called norton and they told me just to uninstall everything norton and then run some programs that they'd send me thru my email. so...i uninstalled everything from the control panel, and ran those programs (which were supposed to delete all traces of any old norton from the registry, etc. because they said that older versions could cause complications with the newer ones). And now, i've ran the install of the new version, after pulling all the old stuff, and it was unable to run a virus scan before the rest of the internet security program could be 'safely' installed. It said that one of the reasons for failing to scan could be due to a virus. But i went ahead and tried to install the rest of the program and it worked (i guess) but now it just keeps telling me to restart everytime i boot up the computer.
