First:
Please download, install, the Ewido Security Suite:
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/

Update the definitions, but do not run it yet.

Reboot into Safe Mode, then run Ewido

Post the log file it generates in t his thread.


Second:
Download Killbox from here: http://www.downloads.subratam.org/KillBox.zip
or from here: http://www.atribune.org/downloads/KillBox.exe

Reboot in Safe Mode

This will take a little bit to do so keep track and dont miss any files.

Open Killbox, click the option 'Delete on Reboot'

Select the following list of file name(s) and copy to the clipboard (ctrl-c):

C:\WINDOWS\System32\msole32.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\shnlog.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\intmonp.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\hookdump.exe

From the 'File' menu in KillBox, select 'Paste from Clipboard'
Click the red X, to the far right of the Address Bar
Press 'Yes' to the message box that comes up
Press 'Yes' to the next box asking you to reboot.

If your computer does not automatically reboot, then close Killbox and restart your computer.


Third:
Before we begin, please be sure that HiJackThis is in its own folder. This will allow us to use backups to restore entries if necessary. Please do not put HiJackThis in a temporary folder, or on the Desktop. I suggest using 'c:\program files\hijackthis\' or C:\HiJackThis\, but any name you choose is fine.

First:

Reboot in Safe Mode

This will take a little bit to do so keep track and dont miss any files.

Open Killbox, click the option 'Delete on Reboot'

Select the following list of file name(s) and copy to the clipboard (ctrl-c):

C:\WINDOWS\System32\msmsgs.exe


From the 'File' menu in KillBox, select 'Paste from Clipboard'
Click the red X, to the far right of the Address Bar
Press 'Yes' to the message box that comes up
Press 'Yes' to the next box asking you to reboot.

If your computer does not automatically reboot, then close Killbox and restart your computer.


Second:
Launch Notepad.
Copy/paste the text in the box below into a new text file.
Save it as fixme.reg on your Desktop




Locate fixme.reg on your Desktop and double-click on it.

You will receive a prompt similar to: "Do you wish to merge the information into the registry?".

Answer 'Yes' and wait for a message to appear similar to "Merged Successfully".


Third:
Open Display in Control Panel
Click the Desktop Tab
Click the Customize Desktop button.
Click the Web Tab.

On the list, highlight any items you did not create yourself and click remove

Look for the Lock Desktop Items checkbox on this same page and uncheck it.

Before we begin, please be sure that HiJackThis is in its own folder. This will allow us to use backups to restore entries if necessary. You need to reboot for the changes to take effect. If you did not reboot, please do so and then check if you can remove the items. Remember you must select and item first.

ok i think it works, because i deleted one and the wallpaper is restored.
but my pc does have trouble starting up, it restarted about 5 times when trying to start from being switched off. do you think this is related?

While it is possible that the infection may have affected you startup, it is unlikely. I ahve not seen that symptom with others users under similar cirucmstances.
