Hi

I've spent allready 10 houres cleaning an infected xphome laptop.

I ran search&destroy and adware in safe mode, wich allready removed me about 20 entries.

But I'm stucked on some spy/mal/ad-ware...
I can't get rid of these: Can you inform me how to do please?

I have another problem, wich could be related, so I'm asking: I cannot access my email. When I run outlook express, it connects, start retrieving the first mail (it even tells me I have 4 coming), but then raises an error.

Finally, I have about every 5 minutes, an iexporer popup, with some search reslut on different subjects.

I've seen that sixtypopsix process running, and I was thinking "maybe it is his fault", but still...
And, btw, when I run outlook express, it launches ms messenger in background. Has this something to do with it?

As you can see, I'm running out of ideas (and creativity:-)

Thanks

Hi yull,

You might want to save this page on your favorites, so you can find it again when you return. You can also click on your name and click on "Find All Posts" to find your thread.

Run HijackThis, click on "Scan" and check the boxes next to all these items.

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {ED103D9F-3070-4580-AB1E-E5C179C1AE41} - (no file)

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [antiware] C:\windows\system32\elitebvg32.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [sixtysix] C:\WINDOWS\sixtypopsix.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [nifcd] C:\WINDOWS\nifcd.exe
O4 - Startup: PowerReg Scheduler V3.exe

Then close all windows, and browsers, except HijackThis. Tell HijackThis to "Fix checked".

Restart your computer in Safe Mode. How do I Safe Boot my computer?

Show hidden files. How do I show hidden files?
At the end if the fix you can return the files to hidden status if you want.

Delete the following files in red (it could be that they are deleted already):

C:\windows\system32\elitebvg32.exe
C:\WINDOWS\sixtypopsix.exe
C:\WINDOWS\nifcd.exe

Restart your computer and post a new log in this thread.

I replaced norton antivirus with the free version of avast. During the installation, it removed me about 7 infected files.
I guess I'll never use norton products of my live anymore. tease.gif

after the installation (and complete system check) of avast, I had the following

outlook is running fine now, no problems anymore :thumb:
I don't had any popups anymore the last two hours. :thumb:

spybot and adaware still find me some spYware, but it doesn't look to have any impact on the laptop

I'll post a new hjt log this evening

thanks for the help
You really helped me :)
