My internet explorer keeps crashing on me. I've run trojan hunter, spybot, ad-aware, my own mcafee and I still cannot find the cause. I fixed everything that these have told me to du but still explorer keeps crashing. Please help me, Thank You!!

First:
I recommend that you uninstall P2P Networking through Add/Remove Programs.

If/when asked whether you also want to remove Altnet components, say 'Yes'.

P2P Networking is a totally useless Kazaa add-on, and it's been reported to be responsible for serious system slowdowns.

Subsequently remove the P2P Networking folder in C:\Windows\System32, if still there.


Second:
PLease check this folder: C:\Program Files\wqtwsout\. There are two files in there shown as running. I can find no information about them. PLease see if there is any more information available. Of course, if you recognize them, let me know.

Also, check for the presence of this file: C:\Documents and Settings\Laureny\Local Settings\Temp\GLB1A2B.EXE. If present, reboot in to Safe Mode and delete it.


Third:
Before we begin, please be sure that HiJackThis is in its own folder. This will allow us to use backups to restore entries if necessary. Please do not put HiJackThis in a temporary folder, or on the Desktop. I suggest using 'c:\program files\hijackthis\' or C:\HiJackThis\, but any name you choose is fine.

Check the following items in HiJackThis:

Thank you! I deleted the P2P Networking, however I cannot get rid of the folder: C:\Program Files\wqtwsout\ (I have no idea what this file is. I stopped it from running in the start up process, however every time I try deleting it in the process stage it won't stop running.

Reboot in Safe Mode

This will take a little bit to do so keep track and dont miss any files.

Open Killbox, click the option Delete on Reboot

You'll see the path to the filename appear in the bottom box.

copy & paste 1 at a time starting.

C:\Program Files\wqtwsout\b0BCI4xM.exe

into the top box

Click the red X, Say yes to the message box that comes up, then say No to the next box asking you to reboot.

This is important, coz if you reboot before you are finished entering all the files, you will have to start over again.

Do the same for this entire list (You have already done the first one)

Ok so a recap of this

1.)Copy a path & file (whole line) from the list here, and paste it to the first line(of killbox)

I did exactly what you said and when I rebooted the computer the system configuration window popped open and under the start up tab a box was clicked for b0BCI4xM was clicked....

Just remove any check boxes. That was probably MS Config. No problem, the program is no longer loaded.

Here are some simple steps you can take to reduce the chance of infection in the future.

1. Visit Windows Update:
Make sure that you have all the Critical Updates recommended for your operating system and Internet Explorer. The first defense against infection is a properly patched Operating System.

2. Adjust your security settings for ActiveX:]
Go to Internet Options/Security/Internet, press 'default level', then OK. Now press "Custom Level."
In the ActiveX section:

Finally, set 'Initialize and Script ActiveX controls not marked as safe to 'Disable'.

6. Reset System Restore
If you are using Windows ME or Windows XP, please reset your System Restore. See Windows help for information.

7. Clean Temporary Files and Folders
Double Click My Computer (WinXP: Navigate to Start --->My Computer)
You will see an icon representing your harddrive (most likely C: Drive) Right Click on the hard drive icon and click Properties at the bottom of the fly out window. On the very first tab (General) you will see a button labeled "Disk Cleanup"...click that button.

Make sure the following are checked:
Downloaded Program Files
Temporary Internet Files and
Recycle Bin

Click OK and Disk Cleanup will delete those files for you.

8. Rogue/Suspect Anti-Spyware
