Timmer
Hi,

I formatted my pc 2 days ago, and already have an infection  <_<
While searching google on
"Remove here4search" i came across this board.
After trynig out a few things, i still haven't managed to remove this thing.

I've run CWShredder (latest verion) and it found nothing.
I've run Ad-Aware (latest update installed) and it found 49 items, but none helped.

Therefor, here's my HiJack This log, and I was hoping if some of you could give me a walktrough on what to do...

Hi Timmer,

Launch Notepad, and copy/paste the box below into a new text file. Save it as FindDLL.bat and save it on your Desktop.

CODE
dir C:\WINDOWS\System32\*.dll.dll > BadDLL.txt
notepad BadDLL.txt

Locate FindDLL.bat on your Desktop and double-click on it. It will open Notepad with some text in it. Please post the text here.

Download Killbox by Option^Explicit. Extract it from the zip file then double-click on Killbox.exe to run it. Click on "Delete on Reboot", in the "Full Path of File to Delete" box, enter C:\WINDOWS\System32\ht836zjked2x8thd.exe and click on the button with the white cross in a red circle. You will get a question "File will be Deleted on Next Reboot" answer Yes, followed by "File will be Removed on Reboot, Do you want to reboot now?", answer "No". Do the same for the these files:
C:\WINDOWS\System32\SMHPEE~1.DLL
C:\WINDOWS\System32\bgpm2uj2zx8k51l.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll
C:\WINDOWS\System32\cdatm.dll
after the last one click the button and answer "Yes" on the "Reboot now?" question. Let Killbox do it's work.

You might want to save this page on your favorites, so you can find it again when you return. You can also click on your name and click on "Find All Posts" to find your thread.

Run HijackThis, click on "Scan" and check the boxes next to all these items.

Then close all windows, and browsers, except HijackThis. Tell HijackThis to "Fix checked". Restart your computer and post a new log in this thread.

Thx Bobbi Flekman,

Last night, I have installed AVG free, rescanned with Ad-aware (professional), CWShredder.
AVG came up with 43 trojan horses, known as Krepper W, Krepper S, Krepper U & Krepper X.
AD-aware found 6 infected files, and CWS came out clean.
This somehow managed to let me decide what the starting page is.

Then I went over the steps you have just told me.

FindDLL.bat result

QUOTE
De volumenaam van station C is Systeem
Het volumenummer is 5864-1CC5

Map van C:\WINDOWS\System32

This is in Dutch, here's my shot on a translation:

The volumename of station C is Systeem
The volumenumber is 5864-1CC5

Map of C:\WINDOWS\System32

I then proceeded with KillBox, and entered the lines you posted.
Rebooted, ran HiJackThis, and 'fixed' those lines.
So, here's my new logfile:

Hi Timmer,

I am Dutch, so there's no need to translate. From your first post I already knew you are from Belgium, but the language of choice here is English. ;)

This log is clean!

This is a good time to set up protection against further attacks. Read the article behind this link "How did I get infected". If you don't already have them, you need an antivirus that is updated, a good firewall for example Kerio Personal Firewall or ZoneLabs Zone Alarm, a spyware blocker like SpywareBlaster and also IE-Spyads and spyware detection (Ad-aware SE and SpyBot S+D). All of these have good free versions available... be very cautious about any security software that advertises in popups or other intrusive ways, they are not only usually useless, but also often have malware in them....

Instead of Internet Explorer, use a different browser like Opera, Mozilla or Firefox.

Last, but not least, you need to keep Windows and Internet Explorer up to date by getting all the latest security patches that protects your computer.

This can be accessed by going to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ and following the prompts. If you are running Windows XP get updated to SP-2 <-- You really need to update your system, you not even on SP-1!

Please post back if you are still having any problems....
Timmer
Hi,

I already have installed Service Packs from MS. The reason i had none installed was because this 'infection' came right after a fresh install.
I'm also running Opera (I prefer this one to IE) Version 7.54u1,
Ad-aware profesionnal, and as a firewall, something that is provided within SP2 and ZoneAlarm Pro with Web Filtering. Spybot S&D is also working here, so I hope i'm safe for a while now :king:

Thx Bobbi!! :thumb:
