LyricalMessiah
I can't seem to get rid of the ISTsvc folder, regardless of how many spyware software's I run. Everytime I successfully remove it, an advertisement appears within the hour (advnt01.com Sfondi Desktop), and the ISTsvc folder reappears in my Program Files folder. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Some one will look at you log soon to help you..but did you download that Messenger Plus with spyware ? If you do not uninstall it..your problems will never go away.

How to remove Messenger Plus, with screen shots.

LyricalMessiah
Nope, I installed it without the sponsor program; is there a chance the spyware will still install itself on my computer via MSN Plus?
Bobbi Flekman
Hi LyricalMessiah,

Open "Add/Remove Programs" in the Control Panel. Select the following items:
  • WildTangent
and click "Remove" for each of them.

Run HijackThis, click on "Scan" and check the boxes next to all these items.

I appreciate the help!

Hi LyricalMessiah,

This log is clean!

This is a good time to set up protection against further attacks. Read the article behind this link "How did I get infected". If you don't already have them, you need an antivirus that is updated, a good firewall for example Kerio Personal Firewall or ZoneLabs Zone Alarm, a spyware blocker like SpywareBlaster and also IE-Spyads and spyware detection (Ad-aware SE and SpyBot S+D). All of these have good free versions available... be very cautious about any security software that advertises in popups or other intrusive ways, they are not only usually useless, but also often have malware in them....

Instead of Internet Explorer, use a different browser like Opera, Mozilla or Firefox.

Last, but not least, you need to keep Windows and Internet Explorer up to date by getting all the latest security patches that protects your computer.

This can be accessed by going to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ and following the prompts. If you are running Windows XP get updated to SP-2

Please post back if you are still having any problems....
LyricalMessiah
Thanks!

I just want to quickly run my Anti-Virus/Spyware setup with you; if said setup proves to be effective, I'll install it on my other computers as well.

As far as I know okay.

I wouldn't use the Windows Firewall. This only stops what is going in, not what is going out. The spyware on your system can still spy and send their data. I myself use Kerio and the firewall on my router.

I would add the pthers I've mentioned. IE-SpyAds and SpywareBlaster modify the Registry, so there is no memory usage for them, and Spybot is a perfect complement to AdAware. Unfortunately there is no "catch-all" solution when it comes to spyware...

Is okay.
