Sounds like I am experiencing something horrible that is at least somewhat common. Internet Explorer is being hijacked (think that's the right term). The characteristics include resetting my default home page to win-eto and going to this t.swapx site. Happens especially if I go to Hotmail or Yahoo. Also places pornsites in my favorites.

I have already tried:
Trend Micro's Housecall Online Virus Scan
Panda Software's ActiveScan Online Virus Scan
Ad-Aware
Spybot - Search & Destroy

All seemed to be picking up on problems, but have not yet effectively removed the main problem. Just ran Hijack this. The log reads:

Before we begin, please be sure that HiJackThis is in its own folder. This will allow us to use backups to restore entries if necessary. Please do not put HiJackThis in a temporary folder, or on the Desktop. I suggest using 'c:\program files\hijackthis\' or C:\HiJackThis\, but any name you choose is fine.

Reboot in Safe Mode* and run HiJackThis. <-- IMPORTANT

First:
Print out these instructions so you have them handy.

Download Killbox from here: http://download.broadbandmedic.com/killbox.exe

Run Killbox.exe and be sure that 'Delete on Reboot is checked'

One at a time copy and paste the following files into the address bar:
C:\WINDOWS\System32\RYU69W~1.DLL (you will have to navigate for this one)
C:\WINDOWS\System32\b442u6v751thd.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\winlogin.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\jslcbdo14f45ovdll.dll

After each one, press the delete button on the far right of the address bar.
Each time you will get a dialog box asking if you want to reboot.
Press 'No' for all but the last file.
After the last file has been entered, press 'Yes'
Your computer will reboot and delete the files.


Second:
Launch Notepad, and copy/paste the box below into a new text file. Save it as fixme.reg and save it on your Desktop.

Locate fixme.reg on your Desktop and double-click on it.
You will receive a prompt similar to: "Do you wish to merge the information into the registry?".
Answer 'Yes' and wait for a message to appear similar to "Merged Successfully".


Third:
Before we begin, please be sure that HiJackThis is in its own folder. This will allow us to use backups to restore entries if necessary. Please do not put HiJackThis in a temporary folder, or on the Desktop. I suggest using 'c:\program files\hijackthis\' or C:\HiJackThis\, but any name you choose is fine.

Close all open windows except HiJackThis and press 'Fix Checked'.

Reboot.
Run HiJackThis again and post a new log in this thread.

I ran steps 1 (killbox), 2 (Regedit4) then Hijack this. Only thing out of the ordinary in the HJT process was that the HJT said of line "O4 - Global Startup: winlogin.exe" that it couldn't handle it and suggested using the taskmanager on it. I did so and TM said it could not be interrupted.

Also, when I ran HJT the following two lines you said to 'check' in the results did not show:
"R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/...arch.html"
and

Got part of it but missed the rest. THis renames itself on boot so if you have rebooted these file names may changed.. If they have, run HiJackThis first, repost the log and do not reboot until after we delete the files.

Print out these instructions so you have them handy.

Download Killbox from here: http://download.broadbandmedic.com/killbox.exe

Run Killbox.exe and be sure that 'Delete on Reboot is checked'

One at a time copy and paste the follwing files into the address bar:
C:\WINDOWS\System32\W8C6S4~1.DLL

C:\Windows\System32\hostx.exe


After each one, press the delete button on the far right of the address bar.
Each time you will get a dialog box asking if you want to reboot.
Press 'No' for all but the last file.
After the last file has been entered, press 'Yes'
Your computer will reboot and delete the files.

After reboot, please be sure that HiJackThis is in its own folder. This will allow us to use backups to restore entries if necessary. Please do not put HiJackThis in a temporary folder, or on the Desktop. I suggest using 'c:\program files\hijackthis\' or C:\HiJackThis\, but any name you choose is fine.

Check the following items in HijackThis.

Also, uncheck the boxes for hiding known file extensions and hiding protected operating system files. We want to see it all. When we finish here, it would be a good idea to rehide the protected operating system files but leave the rest to be shown.

Reboot in normal mode.


Then run HiJackThis again and post a new log in this thread.

If you have not rebooted since posting that log, then do the following:

Run Killbox.exe and be sure that 'Delete on Reboot is checked'

One at a time copy and paste the follwing files into the address bar:

[i]Navigate to both files using the Folder icon to the right of the address bar. For the first file, the location is in C:\windows\system32\ and the file will be dll beginning with w8cs64.
For the second one the location will be either c:\windows\ or c:\windows\system32\ and the name as listed.

After each one, press the delete button on the far right of the address bar.
Each time you will get a dialog box asking if you want to reboot.
Press 'No' for all but the last file.
After the last file has been entered, press 'Yes'
Your computer will reboot and delete the files.

It imperative that both files are deleted on boot. Verify that this is the case before proceeding.

If they are both gone, then run HiJackThis and remove the R0,O2 and 20 entries.

If those entries have changed again, then post the new log and r un that attached program and post that log as well.
