AVG said they they found Trojan Horse Downloader .VB.4.AU
in C:\System Volume Information\restore{E06....-.......-....}\lotsof\lettersnumbers.exe

When I ran AVG it couldn't find anything.

I seem to have problems with these kind of things all the time.

Numerous problems in the past with opening my computer and Windows Explorer telling me there was a problem and it "needed to close". And if I click control panel...and error occured..."c:\WINDOWS\system32\netsetup.cpl

Can anybody help? It would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Hi tricia_s37,

I see you are running AVG6 Anti-Virus from Grisoft.

Please read these links.

http://www.grisoft.com/us/us_index.php

http://free.grisoft.com/freeweb.php/doc/2/

You need to get to download AVG7 Free version when it is available as the other version will no longer give you any protection after 31st December 2004.

Please move HijackThis to another location, preferably c:\Program Files\HijackThis. Anywhere is fine, other than your Desktop or a Temp folder. If HijackThis is in a temporary folder you run the risk of accidentally deleting the backups or it clutters your desktop with all the backups.

How do you make a permanent folder:

Click "My Computer", then "C:\" and then on "Program Files".
In the menu bar, "File"->"New"->"Folder".
That will create a folder named "New Folder", which you can rename to "HJT" or "HijackThis".
Now you have "C:\Program Files\HijackThis". Put your HijackThis.exe there, and double click to run it.

Your log is incomplete!

Run HijackThis, click on "Scan" and check the boxes next to all these items.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [IPInSightLAN 01] "C:\Program Files\Visual Networks\Visual IP InSight\Sympatico Consumer\IPClient.exe" -l

Then close all windows, and browsers, except HijackThis. Tell HijackThis to "Fix checked". Restart your computer and post a new, and complete, log.
