Hi Flatdog,

Run HijackThis, click on "Scan" and check the boxes next to all these items.

You are running LimeShop. You might want to uninstall this software. Read this loink http://www.kephyr.com/spywarescanner/libra...hop/index.phtml for more information. If you choose to uninstall LimeShop check this item in HijackThis

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [LimeShop] javaw -cp "C:\Program Files\LimeShop\System\Code" Main lp: "C:\Program Files\LimeShop"

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Windows SyncroAd] C:\Program Files\Windows SyncroAd\SyncroAd.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WebRebates0] "C:\Program Files\Web_Rebates\WebRebates0.exe"
O4 - HKLM\..\RunOnce: [djtopr1150.exe] "C:\DOCUME~1\GEORGE~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\djtopr1150.exe"

You have PowerReg Scheduler in your log. This is a registration reminder that is used by a number of different companies. It is not needed and some people think that it reports back to the company about your computer, so I suggest fixing it...

O4 - Startup: PowerReg Scheduler V3.exe

O8 - Extra context menu item: Web Rebates - file://C:\Program Files\Web_Rebates\Sy1150\Tp1150\scri1150a.htm

O16 - DPF: {15AD4789-CDB4-47E1-A9DA-992EE8E6BAD6} - http://public.windupdates.com/get_file.php...7ec47c4891aa171

Then close all windows, and browsers, except HijackThis. Tell HijackThis to "Fix checked".

Restart your Computer in Safe Mode. How do I Safe Boot my computer?

You may have to have hidden files showing. How do I show hidden files?

Delete the following files in red (it could be that they are deleted already):

C:\WINDOWS\system32\msbe.dll

C:\Documents And Settings\GEORGE~1\Local Settings\Temp\ <------- all files in this folder! The folder GEORGE~1 starts with George

Delete the following folders in red (it could be that they are deleted already):

if you uninstalled LimeShop
C:\Program Files\LimeShop

C:\Program Files\Windows SyncroAd
C:\Program Files\Web_Rebates

Restart your computer and post a new log.
Flatdog

Hi Flatdog,

your log is clean.

This is a good time to set up protection against further attacks. Read the article behind this link "How did I get infected". You need an antivirus that is updated, a good firewall for example Kerio Personal Firewall or ZoneLabs Zone Alarm and a spyware blocker like SpywareBlaster and also IE-Spyads. All of these have good free versions available... be very cautious about any security software that advertises in popups or other intrusive ways, they are not only usually useless, but also often have malware in them....

Last, but not least, you need to keep Windows and Internet Explorer up to date by getting all the latest security patches that protects your computer.

This can be accessed by going to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ and following the prompts.

Please post back if you are still having any problems....

Bobbi,

Thank you for your help once again.
I took your advice and downloaded the personal firewall and the Spywareblaster software. Both programs are exellent and user friendly. I have been exploring the Gladiator Security forum. and find it extremely helpful. This is embarrassing for me as I am an IT student in my 7th quarter working on a degree in NS and having to tell my classmates I got (or had) a virus on my computer. I should have known better. Well I chalk this up as a learning experience. I will be visiting the website and forum more frequently now because I'm finding its a great way to learn and keep current on virus defense.

Keep up the good work
