Wave.gif i am having a small but unbareable problem, and hoefully someone can help me. i have received great help from this forum, so i am back. basicly, i changed internet providers (old=cable, new=lower band cable) everything was working fine, but after one of the many hurricanes this year i am no having trouble. the power never went off, the internet company says there signal is ok in my area. i have taken the laptop to many different locals, and i get the same thing. here is what happens:

i can ping to sites and get replies, but i cant connect via browser, messenger, email, or any other web based program. i can only ping. i have changed no settings from when it was working, yet thats what i get for buying pc instead of mac!!!! >_< anyway, if someone could help me, i would be forever thankful.

Well - I would start by posting a hiJack log for This computer then.
Lets eliminate any nasties you may have on there ;)

That will also give us information about your computer to help you in the event that you are having some sort of software conflict (not related to an infection).

When you pinged, did you ping an IP address or a web address such as www.yahoo.com ?

If you just tried an IP address, try the web address. There may be an issue with your ISP's DNS servers.

:w00t: well i cant get hijack or any other program like it cause i cant get on the net...as for the ping, i pinged a web address, i pinged many to make sure it wasnt one that was in a temp folder or something. i have the laptop right next to me on my desk here at work, and am writing you from our work pc, but i ahve no way to get that program on the lap top. is there something else i can do?

Can't you put HJT on a floppy or cd-rw and run it on the target machine?
