You need to be logged on as Adminstrator through the installation.

Just download it to your desktop and then to install click on the file you just downloaded (aawsepersonal.exe). You will be guided through the installation and when presented with the screen here, leave it on the default setting of "Protect anyone who uses this computer".

On the main screen of Adaware please look for the *check for updates now* link, just above the start button in the bottom right corner or you can click on the Webupdate button that looks like a globe icon at the top. Press * connect* to let it check for any recent updates. If any are found, please let it download and install them.

Now, configure your settings. Click the gear icon at the top. These are the recommended settings:

AAW SE settings

General Button
Safety:
Check (Green) all three.

Advanced Button
Logfile Detail Level:
All options under this should be checked (Green). (I had to check include environment information)

Tweak Button
Check (Green) the following:
Log Files
Include basic Ad-Aware settings in logfile:
Include additional Ad-Aware settings in logfile:
Please do not check (Green): Include Module list in logfile: (is not checked)

On your first scan, using the Full Scan (Perform full system scan) mode.

Let it remove any *bad* files found.

Then reboot and scan again to make sure it got everything. Reboot once more.

Then scan again with HijackThis and post a fresh log please :)

You still have the peper trojan. Did you run both tools and reboot your PC?

Also, Adaware should have removed some of these (Internet Optimizer, Virtual Bouncer, etc.)...something isn't right.

Open your Adaware Program and look in the lower right hand corner. You should see version Ad-Aware Personal SE, Build 104 (or higher). If not, you have an old version of Adaware and need to get the latest version. (uninstall the old one first)

If you do have that version, check your latest updates (definition file) loaded. You should see:

Definitions file SE1R8 13.09.2004 (or higher). If not you need to get the updates, use the *Check for updates now* link to get them and then scan again.

Reboot after each scan and do another until no more bad items are found. Adaware will scan your entire system and take care of infected files that the HijackThis tool doesn't even look in. That is why I am reluctant to just try fixing from the HijackThis log....some of those I should not be seeing if you scanned with the current version.

(Plus - the Peper trojan is still there)
