Help I am having problems with removing tv media from my computer. As of this time I have adaware 6 with the most recent definations, AVG 6.0 free edition with the most recent definations, Spybot Search & Destroy also with the most recent definations, and finally Spysweeper with the most recent definations installed on my computer. None of the above listed programs have been able to remove the TV Media program from my hard drive. I have also checked message boards of other web sites and attempted to remove the program file from the windows explorer only to get a message stating the the program cannot be removed due to the program being used by another program or user. I also forgot to mention earlier that I have been having a problem with a trojan horse downloader.siboco.b for over a month and none of the listed programs have been able to stop it as of yet. any help on both of these problems is appreciated.

Before we begin, please be sure that HiJackThis is in its own folder. This will allow us to use backups to restore entries if necessary. Please do not put HiJackThis in a temporary folder, or on the Desktop. I suggest using 'c:\program files\hijackthis\' or C:\HiJackThis\, but any name you choose is fine.

Reboot in Safe Mode* and run HiJackThis. <-- IMPORTANT

Looks better.

First:
You are running an outdated and therefore unsafe version of Internet Explorer.
You NEED to upgrade to IE 6.0 SP1

(Make sure you get the correct language version for your operating system! ).

Next go to the Windows Update site, and download and install ALL Critical Updates on offer.
That will fix innumerable bugs, update a large number of important system files, and plug many security holes.

This step is mandatory if you are to avoid Gaobot, Sasser, and Help file exploit

This may take a while now that SP2 is available.


Then:
At last, your system is clean and free of spyware! Want to keep it that way?

Here are some simple steps you can take to reduce the chance of infection in the future.

1. Visit Windows Update: <-- YOU NEED TO DO THIS!!
Make sure that you have all the Critical Updates recommended for your operating system and IE. The first defense against infection is a properly patched OS.
a. Windows Update: http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp

2. Adjust your security settings for ActiveX:]
Go to Internet Options/Security/Internet, press 'default level', then OK.
Now press "Custom Level."
In the ActiveX section, set the first option, 'Download signed controls', to 'Prompt; set the
second option, 'Download unsigned controls', to 'Disable'; and finally, set 'Initialize and Script ActiveX controls not marked as safe" to 'Disable'.

3. Download and install the following free programs

4. Install Spyware Detection and Removal Programs:
You may also want to consider installing either or both of AdAware (free version) and Spybot S&D (freeware). Use these programs to regularly scan your system for and remove many forms of spyware/malware.

5. Install 'Spoofstick" from here: http//www.corestreet.com/spoofstick/. Spoofstick is a simple browser extension that helps users detect spoofed (fake) websites. This extension is free and installs in Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox.
