Hi,
I've got a system here that had a heap of items in it that CWShredder found. These have been fixed, but while I was trying to connect to the Internet on said system, Zone Alarms asked if I should allow backserver.exe access to the Internet. I did remove reference to HKCU\..Run: [Disk Master} C:\windows\diskserv.exe from within HiJackThis, but I still think there may be a problem. Something disables the modem. There also seems to be a problem with the servers where CWShredder lives and I can't get an update to it.

I also cannot update any spyware programs as when I do get a connection to the Internet the hard drive thrashes something terrible and downloads are going to take forever. I'm working from another system at the moment.

Please can someone take a look at this hijackthis log and let me know if they notice anything. Sorry to bother you - I did try to fix by myself, but I'm at a loss now.

I suggest you reset your Hosts file for safety:

2. Install the program and run it.
3. Press 'Restore Original Hosts' and press 'OK'
4. Exit Program.

Note: This program also has a Hosts file backup facility that may want to use if you have added custom entries to the Hosts file.


Then run Chkdsk and Defrag the drive.

Finally run SFC (Start -> run -> SFC) and check to be sure you have all the necessary system files.
