Hi,
I'm not sure if I've been hijacked or if it's some other sort of problem, but I've run my spybot, adaware and norton anti-virus scan and nothing's coming up.. The pc is taking ages to load everything up when windows starts and then the desktop background doesn't always show up. Also my usb card reader has suddenly stopped working and other applications are acting strangely.
I wondered if I posted my hijack this log here you may find something that shouldn't be there. You helped me tremendously before when I had problems with net search and I'm hoping that you may be able to sort this out as well,

For your Card Reader, you may want to remove and re-install your Data Caching program.

You log is very clean but I found one suspicious program that does not exist in a normal XP installation. I have set the log to stop it from starting, but do not want to remove it yet.

Please zip and enmail the following to me:
C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\Connection Wizard\Status.exe

Send to Submit AT LoPhatPhuud.com (replace AT with @)


Then:
Check the following items in HiJackThis:
O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {62999427-33FC-4baf-9C9C-BCE6BD127F08} - (no file)

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Supastatus] C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\Connection Wizard\Status.exe

Close all open windows and press 'Fix Checked'.

You may also want to clean your Temporary files:
A very important step to cleaning out adware or a virus is to clear temporary files.

Double Click My Computer (WinXP: Navigate to Start --->My Computer)

You will see an icon representing your harddrive (most likely C: Drive) Right Click on the hard drive icon and click Properties at the
bottom of the fly out window. One the very first tab (General) you will see a button labeled "Disk Cleanup"...click that button.
Make sure the following are checked:
Downloaded Program Files
Temporary Internet Files and
Recycle Bin
Click OK and Disk Cleanup will delete those files for you.


It would also be a good idea to clear your Internet Cookies.
These directions are for Internet Explorer.
Click Tools along the top of Internet Explorer and choose Internet Options
On the General Tab press Delete Cookies.

Your temporary files are now cleared.
Perform this action periodically to keep your computer running at peak performance


Finally, run HiJackThis again and post a new log in this thread.

At last, your system is clean and free of spyware! Want to keep it that way?

Here are some simple steps you can take to reduce the chance of infection in the future.

1. Visit Windows Update: <-- YOU NEED TO DO THIS!!
Make sure that you have all the Critical Updates recommended for your operating system and IE. The first defense against infection is a properly patched OS.
a. Windows Update: http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp

2. Adjust your security settings for ActiveX:]
Go to Internet Options/Security/Internet, press 'default level', then OK.
Now press "Custom Level."
In the ActiveX section, set the first option, 'Download signed controls', to 'Prompt; set the
second option, 'Download unsigned controls', to 'Disable'; and finally, set 'Initialize and Script ActiveX controls not marked as safe" to 'Disable'.

3. Download and install the following free programs
