Please can someone help?

My homepage has been hijacked by about:blank along with continuous annoying spyware pop ups (which Norton doesn't seem to be able to stop).

I have run ad-aware and Hijack this. These are the results from hijack this:

Hello,pink_star

Run HJT, and place a check next to the following lines, then, with all browsers and windows closed, hit 'Fix checked':

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = file://C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\sp.html
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = file://C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\sp.html

O14 - IERESET.INF: START_PAGE_URL=http://www.virgin.ne

Make sure you can view hidden and system files: Instructions here

Then Boot to safe mode: Instructions here

Delete the following files\folders IF still present:
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\MHOLHBA.DLL<----This file

Reboot, post a new log please.

After you do a reboot Remove/Uninstall the Ver, of HJT you have & install this one Ver,198

HijackThis

http://www.zerosrealm.com/downloads/hjt.zip

Please make a new folder to put your HijackThis.exe into. Anywhere on your hard drive is fine other than your Desktop or the Temp folder. We suggest you use something like "C:\Program Files\HijackThis" but feel free to use any name. Unzip HijackThis and save the contents (Hijackthis.exe) to the new folder you made. Then navigate to it and run HijackThis from there. This is to ensure it makes the necessary backups for recovery if needed. Then, doubleclick HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button. Press that and copy & paste its contents here. Most of what it lists will be harmless or even essential, don't fix anything yet. Someone will be along to tell you what steps to take after you post the contents of the scan results.

Hi again,

Have done as instructed and it seems to have fixed my problem. I re-set my home page and it has finally stuck this time, and I haven't had anymore spyware pop-ups!

I've done another hjt scan (see below).

One thing I noticed when I was infected was when i started the computer & connected to the internet and did ctrl alt del about 8 strange named programmes were also running. I did it a minute ago & the only ones I'm not sure of are 'Ccapp' and 'Systray' - not sure if they should be there or not?

I also got a message from norton internet security just a minute ago that windows explorer was trying to connect to the internet - to which I said not to permit. Not sure about this either?

I will install a new version of hjt, and watch out for any new messages.

Thanks so much - I was at the point of wanting to throw my computer out of the window!!!
