I have been having problems with my computer since late Monday. I ran an anti-virus program, plus both Adware and SpyBot multiple times. I've removed everything I was able to identify. This is my most recent Hijackthis log. I'm especially concerned about these files, but can't find them listed anywhere as good or bad: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\CSCDIPFB.EXE
C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\9BJBJSO0K.EXE
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\STO42DEU.EXE

Please help!

First:
You are running an outdated and therefore unsafe version of Internet Explorer.
You NEED to upgrade to IE 6.0 SP1
http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp

(Make sure you get the correct language version for your operating system! ).

Next, go to the Windows Update site, and download and install ALL Critical Updates on offer.
That will fix innumerable bugs, update a large number of important system files, and plug many security holes.

This step is mandatory if you are to avoid Gaobot, Sasser, and Help file exploits.

It can wait until your system is clean, but must be done.

Second:
You have a Peper infection

Download the removal tool :
http://computercops.us/downloads-file-330.html or
http://downloads.subratam.org/PeperFix.exe

! NOTE: YOU MUST BE ONLINE WHEN RUNNING IT and let is have access to pass the firewall.

!!! Please run this twice with a reboot in between.

Third:
Before we begin, please be sure that HiJackThis is in its own folder. This will allow us to use backups to restore entries if necessary. I suggest 'c:\program files\hijackthis\' but any folder other than the Desktop or a temporary folder is fine.

Reboot in Safe Mode* and run HiJackThis. <-- IMPORTANT

Check the following items in HijackThis.
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {C5183ABC-EB6E-4E05-B8C9-500A16B6CF94} - C:\PROGRAM FILES\SEP\SEP.DLL (file missing)

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Adstartup] C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\automove.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [c3vsRWa7O] STO42DEU.EXE

Close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked.

While still in Safe Mode*, delete the following: (you may need to show hidden files**)
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\cscdipfb.exe
c:\installer\id53.exe
C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\9BJBJSO0K.EXE
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\PbeK.exe
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\automove.exe
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\STO42DEU.EXE

**Show Hidden and System files and folders
http://www.xtra.co.nz/help/0,,4155-1916458,00.html

Also, uncheck the boxes for hiding known file extensions and hiding protected operating system files. We want to see it all. When we finish here, it would be a good idea to rehide the protected operating system files but leave the rest to be shown.

Reboot in normal mode.

Run HiJackThis again and post a new log in this thread.

Here's my new logfile. I followed all your instructions, including downloading and installing IE 6.0 and all security updates.

The computer is running much better and the pop ups are gone, but on the log I still see C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\CSCDIPFB.EXE. I am assuming I need to delete this again?

Thank you so much for the help! These forums are amazing.

OK, just a little more cleanup.

But first, please Zip and email the following file:
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\CSCDIPFB.EXE

Send to LoPhat AT LoPhatPhuud.com (replace AT with @)
