You guys were so awesome at helping me with this problem on a different computer, let's give it a shot on this one!

We're looking at the blue search bar at the top of the IE window -

I've done a Norton Scan - no viruses, just the files from lop.com that cause the problems. I've also done all of the windows updates. So - as far as I know, everything is up to date.

First:
Using Add/Remove Programs, uninstall all of the following, if present.
My Search Bar
MyWay Speed Bar
My Web Search Bar
Fun Web Products Easy Installer


Second:
Also using Add/Remove Infections, uninstall Messenger Plus 2. While the program itseld is not malicious it is a known source of LOP and other infections. I would imagine some of the infections on your system are there because of it. ALso, there is no word yet on Messenger Plus 3, but there is no reason to beleive it will be any different.


Third:
Before we begin, please be sure that HiJackThis is in its own folder. This will allow us to use backups to restore entries if necessary. I suggest 'c:\program files\hijackthis\' but any folder other than the Desktop or a temporary folder is fine.

Reboot in Safe Mode* and run HiJackThis. <-- IMPORTANT

Note: Some of the items listed may not be present if removed by Add/Remove Programs.

Also, uncheck the boxes for hiding known file extensions and hiding protected operating system files. We want to see it all. When we finish here, it would be a good idea to rehide the protected operating system files but leave the rest to be shown.

Here are some simple steps you can take to reduce the chance of infection in the future.

1. Visit Windows Update:
Make sure that you have all the Critical Updates recommended for your operating system and IE. The first defense against infection is a properly patched OS.

1. Adjust your security settings for ActiveX:
Go to Internet Options/Security/Internet, press 'default level', then OK.
Now press "Custom Level."
