i just started a new job and the computer my business uses is eaten alive with viruses. for example, the first few days i was here, the computer had sound, now, nothing. I called our local computer shop that build this PC and they logged onto my computer and looked around and told me that soundman.exe has a hold of my soundmixer and that's why we're getting nothing now. i've ran norton, avg, adaware, spybot, and spyblaster. none of them are even pulling up soundman.exe, but when i do a search, i find it in my c:/WINDOWS file. can someone glance at my log and please help?

First:
I recommend that you uninstall P2P Networking through Add/Remove Programs.
If/when asked whether you also want to remove Altnet components, say 'Yes'.

P2P Networking is a totally useless Kazaa add-on, and it's been reported to be responsible for serious system slowdowns.

Subsequently remove the P2P Networking folder in C:\Windows\System32, if still there.


Second:
Before we do anything, please move HiJackThis to a permanent folder. I suggest 'c:\program files\hijackthis\' but any folder other than the Desktop or a temporary folder is fine. This will allow us to use backups to restore entries if necessary

Reboot in Safe Mode* and run HiJackThis.

Also, uncheck the boxes for hiding known file extensions and hiding protected operating system files. We want to see it all. When we finish here, it would be a good idea to rehide the protected operating system files but leave the rest to be shown.
