Hi,

I don't know how this netsearchsoft thingy got onto my computer...and I would like for it to go. I just recently bought a new computer, and just a week of having it this happened. I have spybot, and have run it numerous times, but no such luck. Here is my log from highjackthis.. I hope you can help. thank you.

Canariella
Hi,

I was just wondering if anyone has looked at my log for highjackthis...I really need to get this netsearchsoft off my computer asap...I have school assignments to be done, and can't really work the web.

Thanks,
Canariella
Lukan100
Did you try running the latest version of AdAware?
Canariella
I have run adaware, spybot and norton anti-virus and I have checked the MSN update page to see if there was anything new there but none of those things helped. I also deleted my cookies, history and all files under internet options but as soon as I launch internet explorer the netsearchsoft thing comes back again. The hijack this log is my last hope :(
woking
I've had the same problem - see separate post and the advice I've followed. That may help.
Canariella
Hi,

Right.. this is what I have done so far...I have the updated files for adaware. I switched to safemode and scanned with adaware, rebooting each time into safemode till there was nothing found. I then rebooted back into safe mode.. and ran adaware again...found stuff, and I ticked and deleted...I still have the problem unfortunately.. so I have taken a new log with highjack this.. hope you can help.

Thanks,
Canareilla

What is going on? I only saw half the log file until I posted. Weird.
CalamityJane
Hi Canariella,

Help in just a moment. You have a new variant of the LOP hijacker and i need to get copies of the files from you ...please check your PM box for instructions on how to do that. It will sure help everyone if I can get those sample to the Vendors for detection.

I'll go send that PM to you and be right back with a write up for a manual fix. :)
CalamityJane
Hi Canarilla,

Ok just PM'd you the info and the names of the files.

I also need a copy of this one:

C:\DOCUMENTS and SETTINGS\JENNYN~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\pch45B.exe <--this file

So if you would add that to the list to send, I'll get them analyzed.

Now, for the fix.

Please print out these instructions to have handy as you will need to follow this procedure and manually delete the files in SAFE MODE.

Reboot your PC into SAFE MODE

How to start the computer in Safe mode
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgen...src=sec_doc_nam

Run HijackThis and put a checkmark next to these, then press *fix checked*

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {247D4BCF-1DEA-A9E2-821B-D35540DED6A9} - C:\PROGRA~1\EQINFO~1\GreatLicense.dll

O3 - Toolbar: lessinterdefy - {EF2C156E-7BFE-CEF9-CE06-A61C2A6184F3} - C:\PROGRA~1\EQINFO~1\GreatLicense.dll

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [bold wma] C:\PROGRA~1\FlawBlue\Sign Vga.exe

While still in SAFE MODE delete these folders and file:

C:\PROGRA~1\EQINFO (folder) - starts with those letters

C:\PROGRA~1\FlawBlue (folder)

C:\DOCUMENTS and SETTINGS\JENNYN~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\pch45B.exe (file)

Reboot back into normal mode and scan again with HijackThis. Post a fresh log please
Canariella
Hi,

I have sent you what I could find of the folders and files to you as an email. I have followed your instructions with highjackthis in save mode, and deleting the folders in safe mode.. but unfortunately I could not find the Documents and Setting file you asked me to delete. I am back in normal mode now and here is the recent logfile from highjackthis..as of right now I am still having problems. In the mean time I will continue to look for that file that is hidden somewhere

Thanks,

Canariella

Thanks for sending the files,

I really think you are ok because I do not see the bad files running now. Just some leftovers to clean up:

Run HijackThis, checkmark these and press *fix checked*

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://netsearchsoft.com/searchbar.html

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://netsearchsoft.com/searchbar.html

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page =
http://netsearchsoft.com/passthrough/index...w.google.co.uk/

R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://netsearchsoft.com/searchbar.html

R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://netsearchsoft.com/searchbar.html

R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = http://netsearchsoft.com/searchbar.html

The file you could not find is not running either (it was in your Temp folder) You can just empty all the contents of your TEMP folder and reboot your PC. Let's see a new HijackThis log :)
Canariella
Woohoo!

Thanks, that seems to have really fixed it this time. Opened explorer 3 times now to be sure and no netsearchsoft, thank you so much ahah.gif

Here is the new log

Now that your PC is clean, make sure all programs are running properly and then you'll need to reset your restore point in Windows XP.......why?

One of the best features of Windows ME or XP is the System Restore option, however if a virus infects a computer with this operating system the virus can be backed up in the System Restore folder. Therefore, clearing the restore points is necessary after a virus removal.

To reset your restore points, please note that you will need to log into your computer with an account which has full administrator access. You will know if the account has administrator access because you will be able to see the System Restore tab. If the tab is missing, you are logged in under a limited account.

(winXP)

1. Turn off System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

2. Reboot.

3. Turn ON System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
UN-Check *Turn off System Restore*.
Click Apply, and then click OK.
