Hello,
I'm new to this forum, and all help is very appreciated. When I rebooted my computer I recieved the message: Microsoft Visual C++ library runtime error R6025 - pure virtual function call for the file ccevt mgr.exe. It seems like a few people are experiencing this problem so hopefully there is a cure. My antivirus will not function and I can't access the symantec website at all. I followed the steps posted for the site by running adaware and here is my hijackthis log. I'm on Win XP. Thank you very much!

First:
Please go here and do an AV scan at one (preferably two) of the following:
Panda's Active Scan
http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/co...n_principal.htm

Trend Micro (PC-cillin) - Free on-line Scan
http://housecall.antivirus.com

RAV Antivirus Online Scan
http://www.ravantivirus.com/scan/

eTrust AV web scanner (Computer Associates)
http://www3.ca.com/virusinfo/virusscan.aspx

Second:
Check the following items in HijackThis.
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SysExplore] C:\WINDOWS\System32\explorer32.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [System Update Service] csrss32.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Microsoft Update] msawindows.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [System Update Service] csrss32.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [Microsoft Update] msawindows.exe

O16 - DPF: {666E4D35-E955-11D0-A707-000000521958} - http://www.ieplugin.com/webplugin.cab

Close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:

Reboot in Safe Mode* and delete the following: (you may need to show hidden files**)
C:\WINDOWS\System32\explorer32.exe
c:\windows\system32\csrss32.exe
c:\windows\system32\msawindows.exe

*How to Boot into Safe mode: http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgen...001052409420406
**Show hidden files/folders as per the instructions here http://www.tacktech.com/display.cfm?ttid=190

Also, uncheck the boxes for hiding known file extensions and hiding protected operating system files. We want to see it all. When we finish here, it would be a good idea to rehide the protected operating system files but leave the rest to be shown.

Reboot.

Post another HiJackThis log in this thread for review.

Third:

Hopefully your NAV is working too.

Your HJT log is clean!

To reduce the potential for spyware infection in the future, I strongly recommend installing SpywareBlaster and SpyWareGuard and IE/Spyad if you do not already have them installed.

SpywareBlaster and SpywareGuard are by JavaCool and both are free programs. SpywareBlaster will prevent spyware from being installed and consumes no system resources. SpywareGuard offers realtime protection from spyware installation attempts.

More info and download is available at:
SpywareBlaster: http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html
SpywareGuard: http://www.wilderssecurity.net/spywareguard.html

IE/Spyad places over 4000 websites and domains in the IE Restricted list which will several impair attempts to infect your system. It is free.

More info and download is available at:
IE/Spyad:

Good luck, and thanks for coming to Gladiator Security Forums.
