Hello,

I recently acquired the keylog-briss trojan, and removed the base file successfully with McAfee, I made sure the registry entry was gone, and that the process was no longer running. Both turned up negative. But now, I have CONSTANT HAWK e-mail alerts trying to send a completely blank e-mail (as far as HAWK tells me) to mylogs@mail.ru (Figure that one out...)! It is severely bugging me, so there must still be something in the comp still running for the trojan! HELP! I have run SpyBot, Ad-Aware, ActiveScan, A^2, McAfee, and HouseCall. All are fully updated. I always have SpyWare Blaster installed. Here's my HJT log.

First:
Can you please Zip and send me the following file:

Note: The real MS version of this files is located in c:\windows\syhstem32\ on an XP System. You can easily verify this.

Second:
Before we do anything, please move HiJackThis to a permanent folder. I suggest 'c:\program files\hijackthis\' but any folder other than the Desktop or a temporary folder is fine. This will allow us to use backups to restore entries if necessary

Close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:

Reboot in Safe Mode and delete the following: (you may need to show hidden files**)
C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\services.exe

Also, uncheck the boxes for hiding known file extensions and hiding protected operating system files. We want to see it all. When we finish here, it would be a good idea to rehide the protected operating system files but leave the rest to be shown.

Reboot. (not necessary, but recommended)

Post another HiJackThis log in this thread for final review.

I had the same trojan. Besides the TEMP file that McAffee deletes, you have to delete something called A.EXE.

Also make sure you get the latest update for your McAffe and run it.
