I have no idea where this thing came from, but I have it. I have tried cwshredder, and I used HJT, and got rid of all the ones that had "nkvd.us" but everything came back a couple of minutes later, its very frustrating. This is the latest log file:

Please help
CalamityJane
Please open your CWShredder and tell me what version you are using?

Also, please download and update and then scan with this free program as well (you have some other stuff in there too).

Download Adaware (get the free edition)
http://www.lavasoft.de/software/adaware/
(choose download from the lefthand menu)

Go to: Select Full Install and choose the download location of your choice (1.7mb)
Choose Download from
http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail.php3?fid=965718306 <--(I found FileForum easiest)

After download and installing first, please update the program. Just open Adaware and click on *Check for Updates Now* and then *Connect*. It will find a new reference-file. Click *ok* and let it download and install the updates by clicking on *Finish* .This will return you to the main screen. You should now see Reference File # 01R284 10.4.2004 loaded This means you have the latest update through today.

Then press the *Start* button to begin the scan of your system. Let it fix what it finds (Adaware will checkmark the *bad* items for you so you can just then remove them)

Reboot your PC after cleaning with Adaware and scan again. Repeat the process until no further items are found as bad.

I am using the 1.56.1 version of CWShedder, and I tried the AD-Aware like 5 times, and the website kept coming back. I think I might just have to get it re-imaged. This is been really annoying. But, thanks for your help.
CalamityJane
When you use CWShredder you are pressing the *Fix* button (far right) and not the "scan only" button, correct? Just wanting to make sure as I thought that CWShredder could kill this one.

But, if still no joy, let's do this:

Please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an x in the boxes next to these items, then press *fix checked*

Yes I am using "Fix", but I am not going to be home for a couple of days because I am going to visit my sister in Boston until Wednesday, so I won't have any time to try again. But, I will do what you said when I get back
CalamityJane
Ok ragekage22, we'll be here when you get back.

One other thing to try if none of the above works, try rebooting your PC into SAFE MODE and then run the CWShredder tool.

Terrific! Glad to hear things are working well again :victory:

You have one item left to fix. Checkmark this item in HijackThis and press fix checked:

O4 - Global Startup: Date Manager.lnk = C:\Program Files\Date Manager\DateManager.exe

Reboot your PC and delete the folder:

C:\Program Files\Date Manager <--delete folder (if found)

Also *fix* this item if you did not set it yourself:

Now that your PC is clean, make sure all programs are running properly and then you'll need to reset your restore point in Windows XP.......why?

One of the best features of Windows ME or XP is the System Restore option, however if a virus infects a computer with this operating system the virus can be backed up in the System Restore folder. Therefore, clearing the restore points is necessary after a virus removal.

To reset your restore points, please note that you will need to log into your computer with an account which has full administrator access. You will know if the account has administrator access because you will be able to see the System Restore tab. If the tab is missing, you are logged in under a limited account.

(winXP)

1. Turn off System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

2. Reboot.

3. Turn ON System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
UN-Check *Turn off System Restore*.
Click Apply, and then click OK.
