Please help - I have been hijacked by, I think, netsearchsoft.com, which has taken over my browser, generates pop-up advertisements and has posted a number of items to my desktop. I have run Spybot, which has not detected this. Neither has NAV. I have read a previous post, but my symptoms are not identical (items in the log posted in the previous post do not match items found in my HijackThis scan log, noted below).

Thanks for any help.

Close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:

Reboot in Safe Mode and delete the following: (you may need to show hidden files**)
C:\PROGRA~1\oneslowaudio\64Two.exe

**Show hidden files/folders as per the instructions here http://www.tacktech.com/display.cfm?ttid=190

Also, uncheck the boxes for hiding known file extensions and hiding protected operating system files. We want to see it all. When we finish here, it would be a good idea to rehide the protected operating system files but leave the rest to be shown.

Reboot. (not necessary, but recommended)

Post another HiJackThis log in this thread for final review.

LoPhat, you are my hero. Many, many thanks. One small additional favour please: the nasty left a tool bar on my browser, which I can unselect but would like to delete completely. How do I do that?

THis is the only 'unknown' Toolbar left. It looked like it might have been belonged to a game so it was left. One of experts has this for examination. Let me know if this is the correct toolbr you wanted removed. If not, we can add it back (nice feature of HJT!)

Check the following items in HijackThis.

Thanks LoPhat - Real Axis was indeed the rogue toolbar. Really appreciate al lthe help.

Great news, your system is clean at last.

To reduce the potential for spyware infection in the future, I strongly recommend installing SpywareBlaster and SpyWareGuard and IE/Spyad.

SpywareBlaster and SpywareGuard are by JavaCool and both are free programs. SpywareBlaster will prevent spyware from being installed and consumes no system resources. SpywareGuard offers realtime protection from spyware installation attempts.

More info and download is available at:
SpywareBlaster: http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html
SpywareGuard: http://www.wilderssecurity.net/spywareguard.html

IE/Spyad places over 4000 websites and domains in the IE Restricted list which will several impair attempts to infect your system. It is free.

More info and download is available at:
IE/Spyad:

Good luck, and thanks for coming to Gladiator Security Forums.
