I have Isearch problem.And Maybe something else.Just got this computer old one had win 98.New to Xp and had not a clue how easy it was to get zapped right away.Did not load any protection before surfing the net for I forgot to get the softwares from old computer or sites for that matter in time .Anyway downloaded Netscape the latest version for the pop-up blocker feature,and realixed i did not like all the extra stuff it had so I deleted it and right after I was going to some of my old software sites and realized that was not possible.Isearch had me in their grasp.Don't know where or how I got it or if its even related to Netscape.Anyways I managed to get this far by restore and then going to safemode and surfing for some software to help out.They did not detect nor fix the problem.Search and destroy found one and that was Key something.Can't get the full version yet ,but will in the near future if its as good as everyone says.During my search I was lucky to find this site.Hope I can find a cure here.Been fighting this thing for about a week or better.Also including the Hijack this below.

Yes, you have ISearch and a few other "goofies" as well!

The version of iSearch you have uses your Hosts file to block access to all the major spyware removal sites so first we have to fix that. Then download, install, and update AdAware. Currently only AdAware can correctly remove iSearch.

First:
1.Download the Host FileReader from here: http://members.shaw.ca/techcd/VB_Projects/

2. Install the program and run it.

To use the program, double click on the Hosts file name in the bottom window.
Then find these four entries:
O1 - Hosts: 127.0.0.22 lavasoft.de
O1 - Hosts: 127.0.0.23 lavasoftusa.com
O1 - Hosts: 127.0.0.76 www.lavasoft.de
O1 - Hosts: 127.0.0.77 www.lavasoftusa.co

Change the 127.0.0.1 in each entry to 66.117.38.101

When finished the original entries shold look like this:
66.117.38.101 lavasoft.de
66.117.38.101 lavasoftusa.com
66.117.38.101 www.lavasoft.de
66.117.38.101 www.lavasoftusa.com

Save changes and exit the Hosts Reader Program

Do not reboot.


Then:Download the latest version of Ad-Aware at
http://www.lavasoft.de/software/adaware/

After installing AAW, and before running the program, you NEED to FIRST update the reference file following the instructions here: http://www.lavahelp.com/howto/updref/index.html

Now do the following:
- Under Ad-aware 6 > Settings (Gear at the top) > Tweaks > Scanning Engine:
check: "Unload recognized processes during scanning."

- Under Ad-aware 6 > Settings (Gear at the top) > Tweaks > Cleaning Engine:
Check: "Let Windows remove files in use after reboot."


Press "Scan Now"
- Check option "Use Custom scanning options"
- Check option "Activate In-Depth Scan"
- Press "Select drives\folders to scan"
- Select the active partition which is usually C:

Now press "Next" to let Ad-aware scan your drives...
It will find a number of "bad" files and registry keys.
Right-click in that pane and choose "select all"


Now press "Next" again.
It will ask you whether you'd like to remove all checked items. Click OK.

Finally, close Ad-Aware, and reboot.

That ought to get rid of most of your spyware.
When you've done all that, restart your computer, re-run Hijack This, and post a fresh log in this thread..
There will be more to do!

First:
You Have a CoolWebSearch Infection.

Please Download CoolWebShredder, from http://www.zerosrealm.com/downloads/CWShredder.zip

Extract CWShredder to its own folder and run the program.

Click the 'Fix ->' buitton.

Make sure you let it fix all CWS Remnants.

Second:
Check the following items in HijackThis.
O1 - Hosts: 127.0.0.0 localhost

Also, uncheck the boxes for hiding known file extensions and hiding protected operating system files. We want to see it all. When we finish here, it would be a good idea to rehide the protected operating system files but leave the rest to be shown.

Reboot. (not necessary, but recommended)

Post another HiJackThis log in this thread for final review.

Can't thank you enough for helping me out.!!-O.k. I did what ya said and after I did cwshredder I did scan hijackthis and clicked all ,but one was missing-#4 GS winlogon.exe-Also after safe and following the steps closely there was no winlogon.exe to delete.I unhid still not there.Did cwshredder get it during its process or is it still there under something else?still having prob with explore maybe next step will be the cure Im sure we took care of alot already.below is updated hijackthis#3.
